Why is no one discussing

Under pressure Dobb's has the ability to get downfield that Worley did not. I believe he has the opportunity to be our leading rusher tomorrow. Pick your poison....you can't stop them all.

This is true. I think OU will try to stop the run first and contain Dobbs on the run, forcing him to make throws. Rain could make that hard. Anyone know if Dobbs has small hands? Sounds silly, but it makes a big difference throwing a wet ball.

From the OU prespective, they will say, "Well, U.T. had to fight all the way to the forth quarter to finally put BGSU away."
"If U.T. can't put BGSU away, in what is considered a home game, then we should have no issue with U.T."

I doubt many OU fans truly think that. I will admit that UTs struggles in the secondary and lack of pass rush against BGSU makes me feel a little better about things, but anyone expecting UT to roll over is fooling themselves.

I saw an amazing sat on Dobbs last week...on the move he has 80% pass completion. I didn't even know they kept a stat like that.

Dual QBs have an inherent advantage. Defenses have to account for them running on every passing play and can't attack as aggressively and they have to account for him even on a "hand off."

Another stat I found thanks to sec network .
Dobbs has a 80% completion rate vs the blitz

I don't know if he has small hands ( I would be shocked if he did 6'3"), but he was able to throw very well vs South Carolina in a very very cold game. Does anyone else recall how Dobbs played in the rain?

Just like everyone was quick to blame our D's performance by saying we played very "vanilla"...I would probably say the same about OU vs. Akron.

You can pretty much throw those 1st games out the window because neither team had to turn to page 2 in the playbooks.

I hope our page 2 is better than theirs tomorrow.

I'm just saying OUr run defense is going to be stout. A few big runs will be had due to OUr agressiveness and your running backs abilities, but I'd be shocked if we give up 250+ on the ground. I actually think a shootout favors OU, even with the new offensive line. Pass blocking is easier than run blocking and Perine is great at helping to neutralize the DEs. Dobbs was very accurate last week, even on throws 20+ yards downfield, but he'll have someone in his face this week when he's doing it. We'll have to see how he does under pressure.

I finished watching the OU game this afternoon. The most impressive drive was the last TD drive. OU ran a pattern that Vol fans may remember from Cut's "dink and dunk" O several years back. It was effective in moving the chains.

I have no doubt that OU didn't show everything on D vs Akron. I have no doubt that they'll be coached up. HOWEVER, that's kind of where the niceties end for now. Akron repeatedly had openings that it didn't have the QB or skill players to exploit. Their "running QB" was slow. Pohl the passing QB wasn't very accurate. Not that it would have mattered because they have absolutely nothing at WR except a converted S that was moved only a week prior to the game. Their RB's were also on the small side and relatively slow.

To say that Akron is bad on offense... is to be extraordinarily kind. As bad as BGSU was on D... Akron was worse on O.

Now, could that be because OU's D was just that great? Maybe. However, the Akron O's performance over the last couple of years suggest not... and the fact that they had numerous missed opportunities says no... and the frequency with which their OL actually got push, held a pocket, or opened a hole suggests no.

When or if you watch that game again, imagine a running QB that is bigger, faster, stronger, and quicker than Akron's running QB... who is also a better passer than Pohl... and who has two very good RB's flanking him... and a receiving corps that goes about 9 deep with players not only better than anyone Akron has this year... but probably ever.

I can't predict rush yardage.

I will predict that neither coach wants a shoot out. A shoot out probably favors the team that gets the ball last.

You may well have a terrific D. But there's not much done against Akron that proves that considering how bad the Zips are.

BTW, one of the OU fans said something to the effect that Akron stacked the box and that's why they stopped OU's run game. Honestly, I just didn't see that. I saw their players getting off blocks time and time again. OU almost never got a push in the middle.
