Why Green?

Good grief. Come on, people. It's HARDER to recruit to Navy! The guy didn't forget how to recruit. He's had a much tougher sell at Navy than anyone at Tennessee ever dreamed about having. He's obviously not recruiting the same type of player to Navy. We got it. But that doesn't mean he "forgot" or "can't" recruit.

I'm not saying he's a good recruiter or not, but much of this is nonsense. The only legitimate argument is the establishment of relationships with HS coaches, which you have to do whenever you start recruiting a new area.

If he's the hire, we'll find out how good of a recruiter he is. But what if he's hired as a position coach? He'll still have to recruit then. Still like that hire?

Buddy Green is not an exciting hire, all because he's a total unknown to the SEC. The important word is "unknown".

I think what everyone is trying to get at is we need a proven splash hire at DC. However, those are hard to come by with Dooley's seat being warm. What we don't need is another experiment which could end up being fantastic or could end up being a horrible mistake. If we go the experiment way - it better as hell end up well for us or else we are going to be sat back another 2-3 years at least.

This is my point and feeling on the matter exactly!

Your comment said nothing about resumes. Just talking about age etc.

So glad the recruits we got from the kiffin name turned out to be so great....

Don't be dense man. We are debating Green as a candidate as a WHOLE. I am not discriminating against just his age, but it is a big part of his downside.

What he ^ said...:good!:

1) hate the 3/4 defense, we will get run over in the SEC
2) if the guy is 60 years old, and the best job he has had is Navy, forget him

he's the only guy that will look up to Dooley the way he demands his coaches to.

Not being dense. Just saying that we need to hire the best for the job not the best to make a splash. We need to get over that as we keep worrying about and it keeps biting us in the butt.

For goodness sake if we say no cause of a health issue we r gonna have to cross a lot of folks of the list.

IMO, whoever we hire will be gone within the next few years anyway barring an incredible turnaround in our program. Maybe that's why no one wants to come.

Why?

Money would be better, closer to home, and big boy football. It would be a step up IMO not down.

Been a coordinator for too long, and apparently Navy has taken good care of him and his family.
