Guys, how do we not lose recruits if this is the guy???

I am sorry, but I just don't see this working for us.

We need somebody by this weekend period.

I disagree. We need the right person. If we get the right person by this weekend great. If not we wait till we do. If recruits decommit or stop considering us because we are being diligent, then so be it. Dont let a handful of recruits scrare you into Buddy Green.

I think we will have the horses for a 3-4 IF we get McCullers and Santos. 2013 could be a big step up for us if we keep the current staff.

I know a LOT of ifs.

Do we really think we get McCullers and keep Santos if Green is the guy????

:lolabove: Teams with good OLs would absolutely steamroll a 3/4 from us. We don't have the size, plus it would be manned by a bunch of Freshmen and Sophs trying to learn a new defense.

The bright side would be that it's one of the faster tickets out of town for Dooley and all his fail.

Regardless, don't buy any of the above. If Green gets the job, it's for the simple reason that no one else would take the job. What a disgrace that the program has fallen to this point. Hart has to be kicking himself for not dismissing Dooley the week after the KY game.

So, if he's hired, you think he's going to continue to recruit the same players to UT?

I'm saying that he is not as experienced and proven in the recruiting game like Sunseri is. He has connections across the country and I like his potential as a coach better. He has recruited some of the big dogs on the trail and IMO a better option.

The fact that we are interviewing Buddy Green for anything speaks volumes about how all of this is going...

I want a seasoned DC that brings excitement to the program as much as you. It's ridiculous how much this story has bothered me; but, if we've already been turned down by Chavis (Hyams says :crazy:), Shannon, and Sunseri then who is there left who wants to come without paying them another massive contract that ties the future of our program again. We are finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel with Fulmer's buyout.

However, if these kids coming January 13th don't come, then we have a terrible recruiting season and again brings further detriment to the program.

Let me ask you this:

Do you think Buddy Green (again, not saying I want him necessarily) coaching Alabama or LSU's defense beats Saban himself coaching Tennessee this year?

I say no: why because regardless of coaching ability, recruiting is 75% of the game.

I would say recruiting is 60% coaching up talent is 40%

Also by your rationale you say go ahead and hire Green to keep a few recruits for this year- okay but what about recruiting the class of 2013? Or 2014(Berry brothers)? Don't forsake the future recruiting by hastily hiring a guy now to save a few in this class.

If Buddy Green is Dooley's pick for DC, here's what it means:

(1) We're converting to a 3-4 defense and need a DC that knows how to implement it from a tactical standpoint;

(2) Dooley is choosing a DC with a proven track record of success on the field;

(3) Dooley is looking for stability because Buddy Green is loyal and unlikely to up and leave after a few years (he's been at Navy for 10 years);

(4) Green likely gets paid $500K, and Dooley will have more money to spend on filling out the remainder of the staff;

(5) Green's recruiting abilities are entirely unknown because he has been at a service academy (although our last DC didn't do a whole lot of lead recruiting either);

(6) Expect Dooley to fill the OL coach and DL/LB coach with top-notch recruiters;

(7) Thompson is not leaving

Kevin Steele would be the perfect fit for one of those guys mentioned in point(6).

He was just fired

I'm more worried about recruits not comming because we hired Buddy Green.

Really, Dooley is just trying to compile of staff that will take over the Joint Special Operations Command. First, he hires McKeefery from USASOC, now he hires Green from the Navy. Next hire will be Stanley McChrystal to run the offense.

Now if he could only get Petraeus to be the AD...

hey , we do have the vol navy.now if we can hire someone from the air force we would be set.
