The fan base will always have different opinions about who should be in charge. The only way to eliminate the "divide" is to win. Butch continues to lose for multiple reasons, with his own stubbornness being the biggest one imo. He refuses to adapt to the nature of the conference. He refuses to make appropriate in game adjustments. He relies on stats/charts to make important decisions instead of using common sense. That tells me he is not ready for big boy football.
Butch appears to have lost the team, maybe even divided the locker room with the O vs the D, as evidenced by the lack of discipline both on and off the field. The team's behavior on gameday has been disgusting. I ave seen hardly any vocal leadership except out of a Redshirt Fr Qb. Sad!
An Interim can take the reigns off of Shoop's D and Scott's O and let them be coordinators. If that means installing some new packages to maximize available talent, then I say go for it. Its not like our O can get much worse than it is and it certainly doesn't look like its getting any better. D has played well enough in most games to win, so it may be alright the way it is.
We need 3 more wins to salvage this season. Only 2 look realistic. If Butch has truly lost control, as it appears, then I don't see us getting to .500, which would be considered an epic failure at UT. Historic losses at home and to UK warrant abrupt firing. Losses to So Miss at home, MO, and Vandy would warrant a literal trip behind the wood shed. I just dont have any faith he knows how to prepare a game plan, much less execute one or adjust it once the other team figures it out. If I can see that, then what about the players and maybe even some of his coaches?
It would be different if he wasn't making millions. I don't feel sorry for him at all. I would let every one of yall call my momma a knocked kneed floozy on national TV for $9 million.
This is not Tennessee football. Flipping off fans, fighting each other, quitting halfway thru the season, and whatever is truly going on in the locker room is not Tennessee football. He is being paid millions to teach these kids "DAT way", and I for one don't want my kids to act DAT way, if DAT way is what we have seen so far. In fact if i see my kids flipping folks off or fighting, I'm taking them behind the wood shed.
He promised a product that he has failed to deliver. He hasnt really been close to what I consider Tennessee football. The door is DAT way. Don't let it hit ya where the good lord split ya.
