Why did the cops ask Vol fan to sit down last night?

I stand whenever I feel it's appropriate. Big plays down the sideline for a td, crucial third or fourth downs on defense, etc. Never had any problems with the people around me. I don't stand the entire game but if a couple times of standing bothers you, tough. Sorry for that 10 seconds you'll never get back.

The guy sitting behind you with a chemo port, possibly seeing one of his last games tends to disagree as he is 10 times tougher than you are at this point in his life.

In that situation, of course you sit down. But how many cases are there that there are just people that are perfectly able to stand without any disability or illness in the stands? More than are not.

Ah the old Sitters Vs Standers Debate. It was been going on since the beginning of time, like Light vs Dark, Harry Potter vs Valdamort (sp?), Chuck Norris vs centrifugal force, etc etc. I love rehashing old arguments that turn into 50 page threads.

lol

Rules for sitting vs standing
1. Sit on offense
1b. You may stand on offense if it is a Big(game changing) play or if the play is exceptionally exciting
2. Stand on 3rd down or on big plays on Defense
3. Rules for sitting vs standing do not apply if the person behind you is unable to stand or is a child, then you have manners and follow the above rules or exchange seats with said person

4. Have manners, treat others with the same respect you expect for you momma, not yourself, your MOMMA!

5. Dont be a DA.

Hello. I was sitting in section K last night and a Vol fan about four rows in front of me was standing up and cheering for the Vols. The guy behind him politely asks him if he would sit down. He then says I am a VFL and cheering for my team. The fan then gets the cops to ask that man to sit down and he pleads his case to the cops saying he is cheering for his team. I had no problem with this man standing and cheering for the Vols. So why did the cops ask him to sit down? Didn't that man have the liberty of standing up and cheering for Tennessee? Thank you for your time.

guys sounds like a douche. If someone asks you politely to sit down, then sit down and don't be a dooche.

Do you stand and cheer when our center is snapping the ball? Do you stand and cheer when the red hat is on the field for a TV timeout? Do you stand and cheer at the break between quarters?

I stand up and cheer for the Vols the ENTIRE game! I always have since my first game in the 80's. I don't go to the game to sit and watch. I STAND, CHEER, YELL, SCREAM, JUMP UP and DOWN and SHOUT for TENNESSEE.

I do get quite when the Vols are on offense, but I still stand.

If this bothers you, maybe you should be a Kentucky fan because this type of behavior is frowned upon up there. But, not at UT STANDING in the STANDS and cheering for the VOlS is a long-STANDing tradition!! This is why, it's great to be a TENNESSEE VOLUNTEER!!!

I go to Neyland to STAND and cheer for the VOLS. I get there an hour before kickoff and I ALWAYS stay until the end of the game regardless of the score or outcome.

If I wanted to sit, I would stay at home and watch the game with my dog on the couch.

GBO!!!

You have yet to make any minor contribution to this thread besides childish quips my little sister would make. Try an actual opinion about the OP.

This has been rehashed so many times the only thing left to do is let you look like an idiot. The OP isn't intelligent. Adding an intelligent opinion to an unintelligent statement is, well, unintelligent. But you feel free to keep showing your ass. I'll just keep making you look stupid like your sister does.

Sounds like you have a great time at the games. Good for you. :good!:

The standing/sitting argument has been going on for a long time.
The student section is getting out of hand and embarrassing our university.

Fix: A standing only section.

Fix: Security or police in the student section.

I blame the university for these problems because they can easily be fixed.

Nobody is suggesting sitting the whole game. I think there's a disconnect here.

There's a good compromise in everything. Don't stand the whole game and don't sit the whole game. Problem solved, everybody is happy.

I stand and cheer. You can sit.

There's no problem as far as I'm concerned. The only problem is when folks tell other folks to sit down.

I will support the Vols by standing and cheering.

You can't expect people who pay good money for thier tickets to sit down.

Is it appropriate to forcibly make an opposing fan sit down when Tennessee is facing a third down or fourth down?

I think that it's clear that there is a difference in opinion regarding etiquette. I don't believe that police should enforce etiquette. If someone politely asks me to sit down, I definitely try to respect them. But if they're jerks about it, I am obviously less likely to indulge them.

And for those of you who threaten violence or purposely spilling drinks, that's is clearly a violation of others. Grow up.

I stand as the situation warrants...Running thru the T, kickoffs and returns, big plays, scoring drives/plays etc.

The point I made is you dont know "why" somebody may be sitting. There are more people than you want to believe with some sort of impairment or disability in addition to just being one of our older Vol fans that we need to respect.

It's okay to stand up cheer and sit back down, It' totally idiotic and very disrespectful to stand the entire game blocking paying fans views.Normally alcohol is involved.
