I presume by negative you mean talking down another program?Bruce is one of the two or three most negative recruiters in the business. There are also still a whole lot of coaches who are extremely skeptical about the legitimacy of Ramar Smith's transcript.

Uhh, I might call that shrewd salesmanship. If I'm selling a car, and somebody is looking at a different make, I'll be sure to point out that make's cons.
I've been casually reading Memphis message boards today.
Why all the extreme Vols hate from them? I don't get it...
Did I miss something? Whats the deal...? My mom and Dad, aunt and uncle all did undergrad at memphis State and graduate school at UT. I have never looked at this as a big rivalry for obvious reasons I guess.
Anyone have the inside scoop on the jealousy?
Details, please...It's a little different than that.
He admitedly had a streak of a few bad games, but without Prince, I honestly don't think we would've beaten Georgia on saturday.
Prince is far far far too inconsistent to just look at one game. If you look at his entire body of work here at Tennessee you'll see he can only shoot it 2 ft from the rim or closer, has some of the worst foul shots I've seen from a player who aspires to be a PG, makes some horrible decision with the ball, and who complains like no one else when he gets caught sticking those lanky arms around the defender to try and poke the ball away.
Details, please...
Look, it might violate some sort of unspoken coaches creed to trash another program, but I wouldn't call that unethical. And besides, after the Thomas incident, Pearl doesn't owe anybody else in coaching - with the exception of Dr. Tom Davis - a damn thing. Scorched earth, baby.
Part of selling is differentiating yourself strongly from the competition, by accentuating your positives and the other competitors' negatives.
If you have examples of Pearl outright lying, I'd like to know.So lying to kids and selling half-truths to them is okay because car salesmen do it?
It's one thing to point out the negatives in a program/coach but to straight up lie is not the same.
Simply walking into a house and saying "(insert school/coach name here) sucks because he did (insert whatever transgression) and he is a worthless bastard" etc is not okay.
I didn't realize this hat...
What does this stem from...is there more than just this Illinois thing?
