Actually, Illinois accused Pearl of wrongdoing in his recruitment of Deon Thomas. Also, his peers almost universally consider Bruce slime.
Actually, the 'AA found that Cal didn't know anything about Camby's involvement with an agent. I love when people attack Cal's ethics and venerate Bruce Pearl. Cal has more integrity in his fingernails than Pearl possesses.
"You know, the thing is, we can't recruit every single kid from Memphis," Calipari said. "Now, you have some schools that recruit every kid in the city and hope to get one because they can't break into the city - or they take them as transfers. They do whatever they can just to get a kid from the city to get their foot in the door. I'm not doing that to kids."
Shades of gray are for the weak and the unprincipled.
Cal's comments about Prince and Pearl's Memphis fetish are absolutely correct. Just because it's harsh doesn't make it less accurate.
That's the fallacy of the entire discussion. Cal doesn't need to recruit Memphis. He's big enough that he can get players from wherever he wants.
Meanwhile, Prince is having a heck of a lot more success here than he was ever going to at Arizona, and finding a legitimate role on the team.
