I'm curious who his agent is. And who that agent also represents.

Wouldn't it make sense that whoever is Butch's agent will not push one of his own clients to push out Butch?

Jimmy Sexton...but of course

and he just hired Sexton over the summer. he probably did try to see if there was a way out last year, wasn't, so he hired the guy that could find him a landing spot, or get him an extension and raise.

well...no raise and extension granted, so what you think they're working on now???

and yes, i'm sure the fact CBJ is still on the sidelines is in an effort to see if there's any potential clients Sexton could find out if they'd be interested in this job, while also finding CBJ a landing spot, lessening the burden of the buyout on TN, and securing future income for his client.

So you are saying that the next coach at Tennessee might be a a Sexton Client?

i wouldn't rule it out. but no, i don't know that to be the case. it just makes some sense, on some level.

if the next coach is a sexton client, there are some advantages to be gained by all parties involved financially, and you're probably getting a pretty good coach to boot.

and if it is going down that path, then keeping jones on the sidelines starts to make some sense. much easier to find your client a job, when he still has one, tenuous as it may be, than it is if your client is whacked at the end of September/early October.

and to get the school to agree to do so, there's got to be something on the back end to justify doing so....could be a negotiated lower buyout, could be feeling out your client list for interest....

conjecture and speculation, sure...but it makes some sense.

I still dont see how it is possible for the same agent to potentially represent the outgoing coach and the incoming coach without creating a huge conflict of interest

That is possible, but I suspect he hired Sexton because he didn't get an extension. Mullen hired Sexton last year when he didn't get an extension.

When it comes to Jimmy Sexton and the number of coaches he represents, this kind of conflict of interest is inevitable. And as distasteful as this analogy may be for some, he might be like a pimp finding you another call girl when the ones you were seeing gave you VD (victory deficits) one too many times.

Screwum Cheateum and Leave is close by.

When my younger sister gave birth to her first, my neice was delivered by a Dr. Holder, and the pediatrician was a Dr. Raper.

Today, it seems truth really is stranger than your fiction.

agree....and now that no extension has been given, it's probably a good thing to have the best agent in the business working for your to help find you a new home....

big picture wise, he probably didn't hire sexton with only 1 purpose (getting raise/extension before the season started) in mind...

your next line though is maybe the prize jimmy dangled for Currie for agreeing to keep Butch employed thru the end of the season....i would find it hard to believe Sexton and Mullen haven't talked about future possibilities, even in just an informal manner........:eek:k:

in the end, there's so much you could speculate on, i'm just trying to keep it "what's most likely, given a set of circumstances"...

well agents are allowed to represent multiple clients, so i'd say it's probably next to impossible for there not to be conflicts of interest...in fact, that conflict of interest is what drives the agent's business.......lol.

and the agents are not the ones hiring and firing. one client gets fired at TN, and he has another client that may be interested in the job, so he finds out how interested......
