Who else is done? (merged)

Most football analysts predicted another losing season for Tennessee this year based on the inexperienced players that would have to play. This should not come as a surprise to find UT where they are at this time. Depending on so many freshmen to play major minutes is really not an ideal situation for winning in any sport. Butch has done an admirable job, considering. A top five recruiting class last year and another one coming this year, building the depth that is needed in the SEC. This was not going to be a quick turn around for our team. "Fans" who are giving up, jumping ship, done, whatever, were not being realistic in their expectations this year. These guys are playing their tails off every week, and it has been about three mistakes at crucial times in the games that are the difference in being 2-3 and 5-0 or 4-1.

Go ahead and bash away at Butch, the team, the assistant coaches, but the real fact is that this team is giving its all for Tennessee every game. There is no quit from anyone. Go on and quit on the team, fill up the stadium with empty seats, show the kids who have already committed and those who are strongly considering Tennessee that we are an unfaithful unrealistic fan-base, and watch as the class disintegrates before your very eyes. I would be at every home game if I were financially able, to show support for my team. Unfortunately, we live in a time of instant gratification and too many of the fans on here are looking for just that.

My advice is simple: support this team and this coaching staff. The rewards and results everyone wants is coming, but it will take more than one recruiting class to make it happen. I hate losing to Florida for ten years in a row as much as anyone, but look at their recruiting classes and they have highly rated players in starting rolls as well as backups. We don't have that luxury yet, but if we stay faithful to this team and staff, it's coming but it will require patience, so, PATIENCE PEOPLE, PATIENCE!

Well said!:good!:

Some of you don't have the stomach for a long rebuilding process so it may be for the best. If you want to direct your anger at someone, I would start with Mike Hamilton for hiring two of the worst coaching hires in the history of CFB then you can appreciate what CBJ has done for the program.

What has he done? Lost to handy. Lost twice to the worst fla teams I have ever seen. Lost to ga twice n bama is next. Oh wait he has recruited well...its time to start winning.. He has 3 yrs n if he wins 5 this year yr 3 will be brutal

Gramps if you honestly believe we didn't win 3 quarters yesterday and should have won then I'm wasting my time. If you had 100000 + fans living off your every word wouldn't you pull out all the stops to prove it? Or would you stick to what has yet to work in order to prove "we are who we are" ?

We were ahead after 3 quarters. We should have had the game out of reach by the start of 4th quarter. IIRC we had the ball inside Florida's 20 yard line 4 times with 1st down and came away with 6 points. You have to score touchdowns in order to win ballgames. One touchdown out of those 4 trips we win the game. The offense played their worse game of the year. The FL D owned our offense yesterday. We could not run the ball and Worley did not have a lot of time to throw the ball. It is not an excuse. The FL D simply outplayed the TN o yesterday.

I agree 100% with this post gramps...but would you not like a staff that could have adjusted to the blitzes and pressure with anything other than a long slow pass to a wr screen? I promise the middle of the field is your best friend against the blitz ....not the bomb every play but quick slants .HB over the middle. The te etc

To All you jumpers .....bye. This is not the coaching staff nor players fault period. It is a lack of players. We are playing freshmen against Jr/Sr...some are not great but they are giving their all for Tennessee. I wish someone could Butch Slap all you who are leaving before you leave. Please do not come back as I do not want fare weathered fans not does this Team deserve your likes.

I never give up. I'm pissed off.. But I'll never give up on this team. This loss hurt.. Reminded me of the 09 bama type hurt.. But this team needs the fans to keep supporting, and keep filling Neyland.

lol a damned good thing what you say goes. We will keep living off blind faith in this awesome play calling and wait for 2019

Can't win . Period. Can't win games that we're won . He hired bajakian, approved ridiculous play calls.
Tired of hearing close but no cigars.
No excuses. Fire butch let DC take the reigns and hire big name coaches, it's beyond ridiculous . 10 years. C'mon

21 months, 17 games?

A coaching staff is limited to adjustments per the talent on the team. Our O line is young and inexperienced. There is jus so much that can be done with them.

Turn it around and look at it from another angle. The TN Defense controlled Florida for 3 quarters yesterday, causing turnovers and stopping the Gators. The FL offense was terrible until they did make an adjustment and replaced quarterbacks. Unfortunately TN did not have the same luxury as the Gators. We do not have the depth to make necessary changes. There is a reason half of our starters are freshmen.

Both the FL and TN offenses played terrible ball yesterday. They were able to capitalize big on a turnover yesterday, we were not. Neither team can be proud of their offensive play.

Never.

I'm not even done with Butch.

Worley... I'm willing to throw in the towel on him. He went three and out on three throws in the redzone. He threw a pick in the red zone on third down for the sake of throwing it(costing us the 3 points, we lost by 2). He fumbled and allowed Florida to get close enough for their only TD. Essentially, I blame Worley for the loss. It was him... all him really.

true and one thing ray Charles could see is if you don't have the players adjust your scheme

Who are you going to replace Worley with? Depth is our biggest problem, imo.

I understand frustration, disappointment, even anger about the loss. I even understand needing to take a break from college football for a while (like until Wednesday maybe). But what I don't get is why a guy needs to come on here and post that they are 'leaving'. What's the point? One last chance to whine? Need to say good bye to your buddies? You expect anyone here to try to reason with you or beg you to stay? Not likely pal.

I'm sorry sunshine .I'll never quit on the Vols. No exscuse you or 50 more exscuse makers come up with will justify yesterday. Keep trying sweet thang. (Twist it all you want .but where in that Dooley loving mind did you get I quit?)

Somewhere around the point you said you were done?

We lost to 3 teams we knew we were going to lose to in July. Our goal was a bowl game which is still within our reach.

Done?

Nope

This one hurt.

A must win against an inferior team on your field.......probably eliminates a bowl...which was highly need.

Was not a fan of the Butch hire...wanted Charlie Strong. Still think that would have been a better hire...however, Butch has converted me. A GREAT recruiter. Enthusiastic. Players seem to love him. Questionable game day coaching strategy/adjustments. I realize this years results should be viewed through the prism of having a very young team. Still think he has the program headed in the right direction.....however, thought this was the one where it would show it on the field. This is the first game in several years that I felt a win (in the SEC) was expected. Now that Ole Piss and UK game seems more difficult. Probably no bowl this year and that sucks. Don't think Butch is on the hot seat, however his chair got slightly warm...IMO.

Go Vols.

i will say this...and im sunshine....wolf and helm should have both had 100 yds receiving over the middle with all those lb and safety blitzes and we should have won easily. a high school coach would have made that adjustmentt and it tajes no time to get the ball out on those plays. no excuse. none. GBO
