You almost have to play JG. with the caveat that he cannot change plays or his scholly is pulled immediately. And a heavy dose of JJ in the wildcat. Shrout doesnt give us the best chance to win

More than the QB, Tim Jordan needs to be #1 RB and continue to develop identity of a team who runs down hill, works off play action, and goes down field every so often, while continuing improvement in D. OL is coming around. All this being said, SC is playing well, and going to be a challenge w/o Maurer.

This x 100. Tim Jordan deserves the 1 spot the rest of the season. He earned that.

I dont understand dressing JG for practice much less consider starting him. JJ and Shrout in a 2 QB system. JG ensures you have no chance to win. Why would any coach do that?

This isn't hard. Go to the run heavy looks since our line is clicking.

Shouldn't be hard to run a rollout passing game with Shrout. JG brings nothing to the table. The kid is a liability to our team and has been that way all season.

Tony Bassilo says insiders pointing to JG. Pretty sure Maurer out for awhile. They say Shrout can’t give us a chance. I’d rather lose with Shrout and wildcat or wishbone.

I think they play JG though. Reason Pruitt protected after game. Anybody think different?? This would be a huge win for program to beat the chickens

I agree Pruitt will probably start jg, for the reason u listed. Pruitt protected him on the play call. Anyone who knows anything about football can see by the blocking and rb it was a run play called. But I think it is a mistake for Pruitt to ever play jg again. I would start shrout, or even jennings before jg

If Shrout is the QB, our best chance of winning out may well be making the team a wishbone offense. We got a dash-back, we got a slither-back, we got a bam-back and a one man dog pack-back. It being we seem to finally have an OL, the wishbone makes sense for us because we got no effective QB right now. Then we have receivers that are better than many believe for surprise passes. It would work.

Shrout and JJ until Maurer can actually get through a whole game. JG doesn't give you anything.. They must be scared Shrout will throw picks, that's about all i can come up with, other than that i can't see why you wouldn't play him.

Jg does give you one thing, a loss

I am not writing off Shrout. The guy was 3 feet away from throwing a bomb vs Bama to Palmer after being thrown in there.

I have no problem putting him as the starter. We have to figure out who he is.

How in the world can we change offensive philosophy mid season to and entirely different play style? I’ve read this several places and it just doesn’t make sense. Does anyone on the entire staff have any knowledge of the veer and wishbone concepts. This isn’t madden where you can just change plays and they work. It’s a fairly complicated blocking scheme and we just now got to where we can zone block....a little

So you take a guy who is easy to defend... and make him even more easy to defend... and that's the solution?

Shrout doesnt give us the best chance to win
Based on what? Similar comments were made based on Maurer's scarce PT before they started him. Shrout according to the coaches was neck and neck with Maurer for the #2 spot early in the year. Pruitt said the deciding factor was BM's running ability.

We know what we get with JG. He is what he is. He's risk averse and will make bad decisions. Playing him almost assures a loss.

With Shrout, there may be mistakes. OTOH, he might make some plays down field that help UT win and at a minimum keep the opposing D from crowding the LOS. Until we know how he plays when the lights come on... he shouldn't be dismissed.

If Shrout starts, they are conceding this game. He is not close to being ready, say what you will about JG, but he gives UT the best chance to win. They need to prep a ball control offense and just let him be a game manager. SC is very very beatable.

If jg plays we lose. We wont see as good of a defense, ol play team doesnt believe in him. If maurer cant play our best chance is with shrout. Take a look at our record with jg starting. 1 win against Chattanooga. Sc much much better than byu or ga. St. Imo the rest of team stepped up when maurer started the game. Jg starts u will see a regression on whole team, shrout should be given a chance.

At this point, if Maurer can't go Saturday, I would start Shrout. If he doesn't perform, I would bring in Jennings or Taylor. And both would take snaps this week. I hate it for JG, but his had multiple chances this season and failed time and time again.

Take that sneak out of the Alabama game and tell me what JG did that was so good? Nothing. His done for the season and possibly at Tennessee. He needs a shrink at this point.

I hate to agree.

I say put JJ in at qb! The leader of a good fb team most of the time is the qb. This gives us a dual threat which we currently Dont have. He is a leader so put him where most leaders play! Go Big Orange
Being a leader is not the only quality. He was a QB in high School, but a veer/triple option style. He can throw, but is wildly inaccurate. He is much better used in wildcat at QB. Gives us a better chance as a WR.
