I may be moving to Concord by next season.I'll need some advice on a few things. Like where are the fish biting and where to catch a ppv UT game.
Born and raised in Georgia, but I would love to live in Knoxville. I would also love to attend UT for graduate school but it's a bit pricey right now. Everyone I know who went there loved it and had a good experience. An undergrad professor I had, and whom I greatly admire, is a die-hard fan and one of the reasons I would like to attend. I was previously a blind follower of the Ga Bulldogs because that is who my dad pulls for and only recently started following the Vols more closely. I have only followed college ball for a couple of years (learning the sport, rules, teams, etc.) so if you think July is late I will see your July and raise you my October. That was the GA/TN game and the day I fell in love with the Vols, the UT campus, and Knoxville. I took my sister (Dawg fan) for her birthday and for my own edification of UT. It really is something to behold. I want to learn as much about the team and their history as possible before I become a true fan (see: certain BAMA "fans") and that is where I am at now. I have since been to the LSU and USCjr. games, and I will be at the Vandy game. Next season will be my first full season as a Big Orange fan and I can hardly wait. I love the tradition, pride, songs, colors, mascot, campus, history--you name it. I make the 3 hour drive, there and back, because there is nothing like Knoxville on gameday. I hope you can see it for yourself one day! It is never too late to become a Vols fan.
Hi Nation,
Just interested to see where the fanbase for the Volunteers comes from in the world..
This has probably been done before, but hey, it only takes a second to vote!
I'll start off by introducing myself,
I'm 17 from London England and have supported the Vols since July this year... (I know, but you have to start somewhere). I have however been watching American sports since 2005. So I do sort of know my stuff. I am not an ignorant Brit who thinks Football is Rugby is for wimps or anything. I am a passionate fan who only watches American sports. (And owns truck loads of gear)
I started supporting the Vols after making friends with someone who went to UT at a family wedding in July. I was about to start watching College football anyway so I decided to give the Vols a shot. I never looked back! It's such a great community to be a part of and a great team to cheer on. You guys all rock!
VOLS FOR LIFE!
Stephen
Great to have you, and thanks for the support.
I think you'll find that we American's are not as ignorant as the rest of the world Ibelieves we are regarding other cultures and national sports. Instead, we just love our sports with a deep passion - especially in the Southern US where college football is "king."
Here's a link to a recent TV show highlighting the culture of the South Eastern US (You Dont Know Dixie — History.com TV Episodes, Schedule, & Video). Don't know if you can get this in the UK, but it does a great job of summing up us Southerners.
. . . over here Americans are the end of more than one joke shall we say. And yes I do find it offensive . . .
Sounds like you had a good time! Enjoy the Vandy game, that should be awesome! I will be up watching at ridiculous o'clock praying that our dreams of a bowl game don't die!
