When Saban Retires...

There is no way in hell that I would want to come in and coach after Saban retires. You are a dead man walking if you fail to reach the playoffs.
That will be the most undesirable job in the NCAA not because it’s Bama but following Saban. How could anyone come close to being that successful? I’ve seen it happen dozens of times in every field imaginable. Even pastoring a church where a beloved pastor has led the congregation for years retires and a new leader takes over. It’s human nature to resist new leadership. I certainly don’t think Bama will tank and talking to a couple of big boosters at Bama…..they are aware of the gathering clouds of a Saban retirement.

The old saying goes "You don't want to be the guy who replaces a legend. You want to be the guy who replaces the guy who replaced the legend".

Let us remember, Alabama wasn't knocking it out of the park with coaching hires before. They lucked out on Nick Saban.
After this dynasty, there'll be so many huge ego power brokers in Tuscaloosa claiming they know what is needed and likely pulling in multiple different directions.
They are likely to make a lot of mistakes after Saban is gone.
They will have top notch facilities, but whoever gets hired likely won't have full buy in from all boosters and power brokers and will have a huge hill to climb to unite everyone.

Look for Alabama to return to the middle of the pack in the SEC after Saban is gone.

Let's hope that is sooner rather than later.

They have nowhere to go but down.

But, there is an entire apparatus and support structure that exists at Alabama that does not exist in most places that plays a big role in their success

I just hope we beat them in his last year like we beat Bear Bryant in 1982 in his last year. We just have a few years to get it done. GBO.

This is so true and I have mentioned just this to Bama fans. They actually believe the recruits are coming TO Bama, not to be coached by Saban AT Bama. I look forward to the retirement of Saban to enjoy their rude awakening.

Don’t get your hopes on that. Saban is 17-1 against all time counting his tenure at LSU the dude has absolutely dominated us.

Yep the Tuscaloosa Bama mafia that basically owns the police force down there will keep them at the top or near it after Saban leaves by all means possible, extortion, money laundering, blackmail and bribery even murder you name it they are insanely dedicated to their Bama football and screw everything else. Sometimes I wish we had that dedication in Knoxville about our football program.

I just hope we get good fast enough that WE become a big part of the reason he retires.

I mean, I got nothing against Saban except that he's the head coach of that bunch of assclowns called Alabama.

So let's get good, then whup 'em. And then he can retire.

The stuff dreams are made of...

When Texas and Oklahoma join, Bama and Auburn will be moved to the East, Mizzou will be moved to the West. UT-Bama and Barn-Dawgs annual rivalries will be cemented. Hold onto this notion and be not perturbed (unless and until it doesn’t come to pass).

Oh boy won’t that be fun? We will get to play Bama, UGA and Auburn every single year. 🙄

The next coach at Alabama has it made. He will know that it’s impossible to live up to the expectations of the fan base and will be fired within 3 years and walk away with an obscene buyout

Not only that but that coach will walk into a winning culture and one of the most stacked rosters in all of college football.

I think Lane Kiffin will get that job. No one else will want to follow Saban and Bama will consider itself too good for many others. In the end, they’ll settle on Kiffin, who has the ego not to care about following a Giant.

With the league expansion on the horizon, our POD will probably consist of TN, GA, FL and SC unless SEC swaps KY for FL. We may get to keep Bama as a permanent cross division rival, but probably not. I doubt we ever get the chance to roll off 4-6 consecutive wins in the future
Really hate the idea of pods

UT and TAM are eating everyone's NIL lunch.

We either don't get it or can't compete.

With the portal, teams can now upgrade personnel wise from zero to hero overnight.

Just not in Knoxville, apparently.

You do realize the portal operates all year round right? Obviously you haven’t been paying attention.

We have no room until after the spring semester to take transfers. Donde plowman has made sure of that.
