What was the reason Jeremy Banks was out?

Crap happens in almost every practice....or at least it did when I played. You get a bunch of alphas and an intense practice and chit gets chippy. The fact that this team let something like that affect them and ruin their chances at a playoff spot, boggles the mind. Maybe it's just that, as a program, we've not reached a certain point of maturity champions seem to possess? As much as I hate bama, it's a credit to them and their "culture" that they've been so consistently excellent for so many years. Hell, we can't even handle success for one complete damn season. When all you have between you and the playoffs is SCjr and Vandy and you STILL can't get it done, well, the only thing I can say it that "it's just us being Tennessee".

This goes to leadership in that locker room or more accurately the lack thereof. I'm not down on Heupel. Some of his staff, yes. Several of our players, yes. I'm going to hold on to the fact that Heupel needs time to change this roster and clear out any of those who don't fit the vision of what he's trying to do. I'm also hoping that he'll recognize any on this staff who aren't getting the job done and do what's needed after the season. I'll appreciate the end of some streaks and some great wins, but if this season ends as I expect it to, it will be a disappointment not so much due to the fact that we "only" have 9 wins, but in terms of what we lost above and beyond individual games. Perception, respect, recruiting, etc. So much good will down the drain unless we somehow find a way to get just 2 more wins this year. Of course, we needed just "2 more wins" to have a shot at the gold ring and fell flat on our collective faces so I'm far from optimistic.
You expect us to lose ?

Ramon Foster said on 1045 there either was or needs to be a players only meeting. I haven’t heard anything about this happening though which is concerning.

You can’t just sweep things under the rug hope they go away and move on to the next game in the blink of an eye. You have to deal with this stuff head on, hold people accountable, have tough conversations, hand down consequences etc

I agree, but I think the fascination exists bc everything we saw Saturday was completely different than what’s occurred all season long. We were 22.5 point favorites to a team that didn’t score an offensive touchdown the week before against a mediocre Florida team… and we gave up 63 points. We gave up 63 points to a bad team w/ a cornball coach with a college football playoff spot on the line. People are going to want answers when the defense’s leader doesn’t make the trip for non-medical reasons.

Fine, but to what end? And for how long? We're past the point of beating this into the ground already, and it's clear that there will be no spilling of guts by the coach, and aside from a leak here and there, comments from the team.

I'm all for garbage like this being kept in house instead of airing team issues publicly because it helps no one to make it public except somehow pacifying some fans that take this stuff too seriously to begin with. This idea that we're somehow entitled to know exactly what went down and to 'demand' answers is completely absurd, and is a product of this social media age of way too much information.

allfortennessee.com? Who is Caleb Calhoun? Seems like clickbait to me. This kind of thing always comes out when we lose. Happens under every coach. Who knows if it even happened? Even if it did, so what? Win the next two games and it will go away.
He is a wanna-be sportswriter. He is also a p*nis. All his stories are clickbait.

Me? Different take. If he did sit out on his own, which might be true given CJH's tepid comment. It might be he knew in his angry(?) state of mind, he'd end up being responsible for multiple penalties and opted to stay out to avoid that. Yes, I know, I'm considering the best instead of the worst, which some Vol-player haters insist upon.

Yep. I don't think this team has the fortitude to pull themselves up after a loss like that and beat a very hungry Vandy at their place in the cold and rain. I also don't have the confidence in Milton that many on this board do. Folks here act as tho he's "matured" into the next John Elway. Milton had a few nice throws in mop up duty, but overall, he looks like the same Milton to me. To be honest, I see us finishing 9-4.

Man I hope not. That would hurt us badly in recruiting.

I’ll be bluntly honest, if we go 9-4 thats a huge disappointment. That will make the LSU, UF, and Bama wins all look like flukes. I just don’t understand how you go from beating Mizzou 66-24 but then dropping to an SC team that didn’t score an offensive TD the week prior and not to mention they lost to Missouri as well.

It'll be a interesting game. I believe they'll set Milton up more for running than passing. He'll get 200+ yards passing but believe he'll have 100 plus on the ground to show a different style of offense by design.

The team messed up thought they would walk in to a sec teams home and have the win handed to them and they found out it don't work that way. Now they lost out on the playoffs but still if they have pride they will finish strong and not over look any team ever again.

I’m with you. I like stuff being kept in house too. I was just saying it’s very hard to keep negative locker room stuff quiet or the thirst for an explanation when you see an adverse effect on the field. Does it mean it’s right? No, but when you have no definitive answers people are going to talk and now people have more platforms than ever to raise talking points and stir the pot. You can’t lose to a bad USCjr team by 25 and not have people looking for answers. Social Media or not people would be calling radio shows and writing op-eds.

Jimmy Hyams basically said they’d have lost anyway, so it didn’t matter…..there’s “nothing to see here”. Game was probably in conflict with some of Banks’s charity work. Either that or studying for a big test. Either way it was most certainly for a noble cause. I don’t know why everyone’s in such a bunch. 🤷🏼‍♂️😉

Yeah!

On first play of game, Jeremy Banks would have roundhouse kicked Spencer Rattler back to his freshman year at Oklahoma.

That’s what they do to QB’s where he comes from….or maybe that’s just cops they do stuff to 🤷🏼‍♂️
Anyway, Jimmy said it didn’t matter. Guess if he didn’t get the inside info, there is none. BTW, is Jeff Brohm still our coach….🤔
