This is what worries me more than anything else in this game.
I will never forget a few years ago Butch was asked by a member of the media if he would need to change his coaching mentality/philosophy to adapt to the SEC. Butch's response was "No, football is football. No matter what level it's played at."
Butch is stubborn. He HAS to know to coach this game differently than any other game. I don't care if he thinks his coaching philosophy is the right one (side note: it isn't), he needs to have a very different mindset about clock management and defensive formations for this game.
I keep seeing the word "gimmicky" thrown around as a way to describe GTs offense. Ok cool. But why not call it outdated? Remember when the spread was introduced to cfb just a little over a decade ago what was it called? Gimmicky. Point is is that they feel it works for them. CBJ may be right in saying that we will still run our HUNO offense. Maybe he's confident in our defense. And confident in our offense as well. What if we score quickly doing what WE DO? And force them to 3 and outs on the first fee possessions. I bet this is his approach.
Now. Another angle. Lets be happy GT runs this "gimmicky" offense. Could you imagine what an average coach....hell even Tubberville could work wonders in ATLANTA if he switched to a modern offense. Fertile recruiting grounds and could still sell potential NFL to prospects.
Let us all rejoice that they are stuck in the stone ages. And go out there and slap em around and make em respect Tennessee.
31-16 Big orange.
This offense is the best for GT. We can't get the high recruited kids like factories. We need to run what we do so we can stay competitive.
There is more plays then what you just said. Counters, QB follows ect.
One mo' time (thought Tech grads had more than the usual amount of synapses firing?) it's not a triple option if you don't throw it, it's a double option. The QB keeps the ball behind or at the LOS or hands it to someone else behind or at the LOS. Defend accordingly.
Ga Tech faces 5 teams in the top 25 and 9 bowl teams from last year. That's a top 15 strength of schedule. Doubt they'll improve over last year's record. That QB's health will dictate their success.
They should be. If they can improve on the turnovers, special teams, and defense, they should be very competitive.
GT isn't winning any championships with that defense. You''ll understand after they struggle to stop Jacksonville St. this weekend. They won't get to face a team that struggles to score early every week. They will. Georgia Tech is going 10-2 in the regular season and will win the ACC Championship. Right now I have them losing only one game the rest of the way (@ Duke).

It's worth mentioning that I was listening to Erik Ainge this morning and a caller from the Atlanta area called in. The caller said Tech fans are ecstatic about this team and their performance Monday. They seem to feel the sky is the limit for them this year.
This is very consistent with the post-game talk on their boards.
Just something I found interesting.
