I agree Maurer made the timing throws as a freshman that JG still cannot make a junior. It will be really interesting next year to see if the WR can make the plays for JG that were made in the final three games this year.

Just the fact that people are still comparing JG to two freshmen and a HS senior should tell you all you need to know. It will be interesting to see next year when we don't have two SR WR's that catch all the 50/50 balls. I believe if we have to have a QB that can force it in tight spots, JG will once again regress. Let's hope this time they don't wait until a loss to a Div III middle school to pull him. And I'll end by saying I've hoped for the best for JG since he got here. But he just can't seem to put it all together for any extended period of time. So we need to move on.

This team should have won 9 games this year and a win over Bama would have been a huge get for this coaching staff in recruiting.

JG wasn't responsible for the BYU loss. The idiotic defensive call on 3rd and 75 that they blew coverage on was responsible for that. Football is a team game. No different than Bama fans being all over their kicker for missing that FG against Auburn and saying he lost them the game. They forget that Mac Jones threw 2 pick 6s. It's a combination of things in every game, but to lay it all on one player is short-sighted.

If JG had even played average against BYU then we would not be in the position where BYU could have won the game at the end. Also the idiotic call you stated was a defensive lapse by one player not a dumb play call.

LOL - Someone posted on here that we have the best talent in the Qb room here. I guess they have not looked at the ratings for the Qb’s in the other SEC teams. Every team has good potential at Qb. No one knows which Qb’s will play well or be busts until they actually get on the field.

We will just have to agree to disagree on that one.

JG was totally ineffective that game and made us a one dimensional offense the entire game and I can't say that one blown coverage by the defense was responsible with QB play that was pathetic the entire game and that is being nice about it.

I guess you can't read then. The post was that our QB room would be the best come SPRING practice. Anybody that doesn't have a good returning starter will not have a good QB room in the spring. The only teams that can come close to saying they have a better room than us in March are FL, Auburn and Texas A&M. It's easy to poke fun at something when you avoid a simple little word like SPRING as you have done. Potential doesn't win football games, see Maurer for reference to that point.

The thread I was referring was about spring and that was what I was referring. Even if I was not specific in my post I knew they were talking next year. I can read just fine and to say no one can match our Qb roster next year is an exaggeration.

See.... this is the s*** that gets me going on you. Maurer was getting his first college start/experience vs the best teams in the country! He couldn’t have been put in better position to fail than he was. But he didn’t fail! He surpassed every expectation including my own. He had us within a score vs UGA late in the game. You are a complete fool if you think he wasn’t going to pull off MSU even with the 2 mistakes because they had no answer for him AT ALL! They couldn’t stop him from running OR passing! Vs Alabama once again he had us tied up AT ALABAMA and even the great Nick Saban was having trouble with Maurer! His 5* DBs were getting torched and he hadn’t even began to settle in yet! The ONLY game you can reference that HE may not have been good in is vs KY and even then..... go back and watch it..... he was heating up.

YOU DONT HAVE TO CRITICIZE MAURER TO PROMOTE JG!!!!!!!! We get it....... you just don’t want the kid in there. Whether it’s out of fear or just personal dislike, your hate for that kid is alarming

Newsflash for you, both Dobbs and JG were thrown into the fire vs Bama and Ga as young players, their potential wasn't good enough either at the time. You guys stuck on this hate stuff is just weird.

No they were not talking about next year, it was this upcoming spring only, its impossible to know who will have the best group next season until the games start and what those results are.

What are you talking about? The post was clearly about how I thought the Vols QB room would compare to everyone else this SPRING. Instead of trying to be some guy that just puts people down why don't you tell us all who you think will have a better QB room in the spring. Why do guys like you enjoy crapping on fellow Vol fans with name calling and insults? Most folks I know got tired of that little childish game in middle school.

Actually if you are confused, You have had a problem with the two words, PLAY and START, you've mixed them up, or miss read them, or use which ever makes your "point". In another discussion of our QB's on this very board, you demonstrated this reading problem. I hope you get a handle on it, BEFORE you attack others....
