What makes y'all think that Harrison Bailey

It seems everyone takes it for granted that JG is coming back.. Have I missed something? Has he said "I'am coming back for another year"? He has/will graduated this month has't/won't he? Why play just to be playing, to me he has no chance at a pro career, to me needs to just get on with his life and be a Vol For Life.
Actually there's an article today that says he may declare for the draft (which means try try to make a practice squad as a free agent)

Mauer??? What has he done to = highest upside???? He seems like a great kid and teammate but highest upside is a bit of an exaggeration. He is not SEC talent. 180 pounds will not get it. He will be a very good QB at a non-power 5 school.
🤔. I think there are more people that would disagree with that than support your opinion of him not being an SEC talent. He may not be “ready” but that doesn’t mean he’s not SEC caliber qb. Especially if we are only talking in terms of talent. And for the record he’s over 200 lbs.

Better accuracy than JG. JG went from the best game of his career to throwing behind the receiver on almost every pass against Vandy.

CJP was on 104.5 Tuesday, and Mickey asked him about JG. Mickey asked if he was coming back or possibly transferring? CJP was kinda surprised at the question, and his response was "well... he's our starting quarterback. Why would he not be back?"

In his limited time playing he has shown to be more accurate than JG(excluding bad decisions on the interceptions).
I refuse to be one of these guys knocking one guy because I’ve got a favorite, but that’s just obviously wrong.

Maurer is a 47% passer. JG is a 60% passer.

Maurer threw a pick about every 15 throws.
JG threw a pick about every 40 throws.

Nobody knows for sure, but it’s clear we haven’t been settled at QB this season. 4 different starters isn’t a great endorsement for JG. We have struggled at QB most of the season.

Harrison Bailey seems like the real deal and I believe he will have a shot to compete for the job. I personally think he takes over at least halfway through next year.

Holding him accountable is cool and all but with all due respect JG has MANY more opportunities as well. Anyone that thinks Maurer would’ve finished the season with stats like that is being a little unfair given his stats being nowhere near as bad without being thrown to the wolves vs Florida. So OVERALL stats he actually started already behind.

No argument there. I just think it’s dumb on both sides when I see obviously wrong statements because somebody has a favorite QB and wants the other guy to look worse than he is.

I’m fairly sure most would include me in that category in favor of Maurer but believe it or not I actually want JG to succeed and have never played one against the other personally(not that I don’t defend) I just don’t like slanted stats to favor JG over Maurer or even Shrout. Maurer was dealt a shi*** hand with the teams he was asked to play against to gain his first experience. And in those games he not only outplayed JG but he outplayed Pruitts evaluation of him.

Because one of these days an elite recruit is going to validate all the hype and help elevate our program back to the elites. We’ve had QBs in past deliver and we’re due again

Wont redshirt? It's hard for me to believe that he would unseat JG preseason and if JG doesn't regress again, at all. Then you have Hill who has experience and Maurer who has enough experience and shown flashes. Is HB supposed to be that awesome right out of the gate?
Wouldn't it make sense for CJP to plan to redshirt him if he's behind JG but equal to the others and next year he only has Maurer to worry about? Maurer could transfer anyway.
Just want yalls thoughts who think HB will be at least the #2 guy. (And I'll understand if this gets moved to the similar QB thread going on)

HB will RS unless all four QBs suck and his RS is burned. That will mean our season started out very poorly if that happens.

The only way all five QBs stay is if BM AND JT get the nod over JG. That still won’t affect what they do with HB, because it will most likely mean those two are playing very well, unless JG was just BAD after FOUR years at UT. I was surprised this year he was so bad, but I will be shocked if he is bad again. Especially bad enough to be passed up by JT or BM due to his lack of performance vs their growth.

Still, doubt JG drops to 3rd string after doing so well off the bench this year. If anything he loses the start. That means BM or JT enters the transfer portal, because one of them couldn’t even get to second string. I think they can do after 4 games into the season. That allows them to see how things are going to shake out, get practice in and look at their situation without making a hasty decision. I THINK. So, the longest we will have all five is four weeks into the season.

Hill will have a to be a huge surprise if he gets more than third string, but he will most likely end up just that due to this transfer with HB behind him only due to RS.

Actually I have praised JG lately including the Missouri game. He did Ok vs Vandy but on most pass completions he was throwing behind. If he wins an open competition this Spring then he is our Qb but I have some doubts about it happening. Who knows , even Hill may turn out to be the best Qb next year.

I think the big take away from this thread is that the future looks bright at QB.

Choices for next year are two unproven guys, a true freshman, or a mildly schizophrenic ( on the field ) redshirt senior.

Bailey isn't coming to Tennessee to redshirt! Ranked #1 in passing yards this season in Georgia ---- #7 career passing yards in Georgia. Plays in one of the toughest leagues in GA.
