What is your best memory as a Vols fan?

Because it was a comback win and Holloway was being chased all over the South end zone before he threw the pass about 35 yards to Seriers to win the game as time was running out. I remember Clemson had a 250 TE, who at that time, was as big as most tackles.
Did you notice my screen name? I was being somewhat sarcastic.

I was sitting in the South end zone the day Ram"BO" Jackson came strolling into Neyland Stadium. About 30 minutes before kickoff, someone launched a rubber chicken tied to orange and white balloons which floated just over my head. I thought "OMG" this is gonna be a special day. It got really special in the 3rd quarter when Dale Jones put a helmet on Bo's knee which split Dale's helmet. Bo took himself out of the game and Dale got a new helmet and came back into the game to finish kicking some butt. The rest is history. Whatta Day!!!
Go VOLS!!!!

The 1986 Sugar Bowl. Big Orange fans outnumbered Miami fans, 4-to-1. Tennessee had not been invited to the Sugar Bowl in 15 years. Our numbers were legion, and New Orleans was awash in orange. Somebody was playing Rocky Top 24/7. Our reputation for geniality, generosity, and free-spending went supernova. Locals loved us, lamented our departure, and expressed yearning for our return. The game was mastery. Miami scored first, then the Vols put up 35 unanswered points. Heralded Vinny Testaverde was sacked six times and intercepted six times. Great victory. Great town. Great company. Grand ol' time.

Watching Reggie Cobb run for 80 yards against Auburn in the rain during the 1989 monsoon. Whole student section went crazy - had my poncho torn and fell about 5-10 rows (not sure exactly how many - the booze had kicked in pretty good by then). Then the goalposts came down and were hauled to OCI. Good times.

Tennessee hanging on to beat Alabama 35-28 in 1982. After being really good while I was in school there in the late 60's -early 70's, we then stunk up the joint for several years. It was a great feeling to start getting back in the hunt again.

Some of the best times I ever had with my Dad were at some of the games listed already. Two favorites were against WKY with B Petrino as their head coach. It was my last game with my Dad and first game with my Son. Second favorite was this years Mizzou game, my 8 year old daughters first game. She made tutus for us to wear and a poster to show the players on the Vol walk, we ended up getting interviewed by WVLT, she was so happy to see herself on TV.

So, has anyone posted about 1st-year head coach, Steve Spurrier bringing his just-ranked-in-the-top-ten Florida Gators to Neyland in 1990? I wasn't in attendance and watched it on TV. 45 to 3, baby.

There are many memories but the one that stands out is my first time in Neyland. I was a senior in high school and my stepdad took me and my best friend to the Vanderbilt game. We were sitting in one of the end zones about 20 rows up. And there we watched Heath Shuler throw his first TD pass at UT. The overall experience of Neyland was overwhelming to me and I will always remember that I saw one of the greatest QB’s in UT history throw a dart to some receiver I don’t remember....

My best memory was on this site when Lane Kiffin left. Someone in here said “they were so mad, that they could kick a bucket of lightbulbs”! I about died! Cheers to whoever said that!

Outside winning the Championship in'98 ....Seeing Tenn beat LSU in triple O.T. after being down 21-0 at half time.

Remember that year we played without an OC.... oh, wait, that is coming up this year.

Oh yeah, the 85' win over Bama in Birmingham when Tony Robinson got cheap shotted into a methadone clinic, and the epic fight that ensued across the street at Tide and Tiger. Birmingham cops couldn't contain the fight, they erected a makeshift jail by stringing ropes from tree to tree in the empty lot next door then hung sheets over the rope, don't still know where they got all those sheets that were designed to contain us but I was arrested twice as I recall but we all escaped under the sheets to rejoin the fight. What a day.

My favorite memory isnt a game. Its remembering the days when Tennessee lost a game it made the front page of the paper.

I remember when a bad game was having leads over teams and my dad cussing and saying "we should be beating these *&#*(*#( by 3 touchdowns.."

Cliche answer, but it was the day that I truly fell in love with Vol Football... Januray 4th, 1999. I was 11 and fortunate enoungh that my step father in spite of all his flaws took me to the Fiesta Bowl and I got to watch the Vols beat Florida State for the Natty. It was my first football game in person and it sealed my fait as a VFL.

Mine is sort of bitter sweet. I got to see my Vols play Georgia in Knoxville last year for the beating of a lifetime lol. Being a Vols fan since I could walk, I am used to seeing the dudes in orange drop a game every once in a while! It is my favorite memory as a Vols fan because I was going through a hard time from my mom passing that year and I was able to get out of town to take my mind off things and my uncle came with me who is a character. We spent most of the day before the game at the half barrel and had quite a bit to drink. We ended up out front heckling Georgia fans (politely) and greeting fellow Vols. I’ll never forget when my uncle saw two young kids walking with their parents and said “Thank your parents for taking you to the game today boys, you are going to witness history “ lmao! Sure enough they did! The worst beat down we have ever taken at home lol. I laugh about it all the time. I can’t wait to see what the future has to hold for Tennessee. Go Vols!

Vols vs Canes in Miami and making Kellen Winslow cry. Fulmer’s last game vs UK was prolly the most emotional game I have ever been to in terms of mood of a stadium

Sorry so long but history is required for understanding of why Knoxville is special to me.
1974 Kentucky game was the first time I set foot in Neyland on a gameday Saturday. I had been in there when the stadium was empty and it looked huge but wasn't prepared for the gameday experience. Being from central NC I had been to a lot of NCSU games ( sometimes with adult paid tickets and sometimes riding my bike to stadium and jumping the fence to sit on the grass hill) at Carter Stadium and always thought the 35,000-40000 people cheering was like everyone in the world. Lou Holtz was the coach and he and his family attending my church. His kids were in my sunday school classes and my dad ( a huge NCSU fan) had a lot of respect for Coach Holtz and what a upstanding guy he was in the community and what great coach he was. I was a diehard Wolfpack fan until the day I walked into Neyland on a fall Saturday.
My grandfather, who lived in west Knox was friends with the chancellor and did something with BOT or similar and had a parking space under the stadium but hated going to games. His neighbor was a medium-big booster and when I was visiting asked me if I wanted to go and I jumped at the chance.
When we walked into to Neyland I looked around at 80K or so people and thought "holy crap this is what football is like"! I remember very little about the game other than Condredge Holloway being QB and UT winning the game.
It still brings chills to me every time I travel from NC and walk into that hallowed place and think THIS IS WHAT FOOTBALL IS LIKE!

BVD mentioned that uncle Lou's mother just passed away 2 days ago.
Haven't heard that. So sad. Prayers to the family and Uncle Lou. You know, I aggravate him here, but not on his channels. I actually respect the guy and like him. Very knowledgeable about football. 😢

68 Orange Bowl Tennessee vs Oklahoma.....Many Great Memories but this was the first that had significance. We got robbed of a National Championship....but the game was a great memory....show guts, grits of the Team...

66 Gator Bowl ? Tennessee vs Syracuse... Syracuse had Csonka and Little in their backfield.
