Exactly. It's a false narrative that guys are afraid to shoot because they might be pulled. Barnes rarely if ever has pulled a guy for taking an open shot. IN FACT, he's on the record multiple times saying he wants guys to shoot when they have a good open shot. That being said, both Gillespie and Boswell pass up far too many wide open 10 footers in the lane by trying to make some cute passLack of effort and focus gets you benched from day 1 in hoops as far as I’m concerned if a coach is worth much. Many games come down to a couple late possessions. Have to be able to count on effort, awareness and focus. If you can’t, sit down.
He does get pissed and pull guys for bad turnovers at bad times as well but most of the time they are back in quickly. A lazy pass up top or jumping in the air for a cross court pass for a turnover is a quick hook, so don’t do it.
