that's true. I mentioned not being able to get out of his office the other day, but i forgot that meant someone had to get him there from Maryville in the first place.

I saw a pic of him the other day on here chasng a bucket of KFC, so maybe he gets distracted easily .

I'd say of those 10-15 not all are offensive players. Besides, I'm certain Fulmer and Adkins can handle themselves just fine if necessary.

Agreed, If we get 'em on campus I feel confident we can  them!

They were interested enough to interview. Besides, you've got it backwards. The list is people you are interested 'in'.

People interview for different reasons though. Just because you interview for a job doesn't mean you are interested. "Intrigued" maybe the word for some of the guys.

show 'em Neyland, the renovated TBA, and more importantly the coeds. That will get them excited enough. If that doesn't work, turn on the NFL playoffs and show them all the players that are UT alums. Yeah, this weekend will be impossible without an OC.

I'm not trying to be a negavol, and I know Fulmer and Adkins will do a great job with the recruits, but somehow I can't think the strategy is telling them "Hey whoever we get here doesn't matter, they'll be a great coach so you should come here". I think that's getting lost here.

Phil is coming to the end of his coaching career and I believe he is wanting to hire someone who would or could be considered for taking over the program when he leaves. It is still just puzzling that he didn't have a plan in place if Cut got offered a HC position somewhere. Some things you can't plan for but he knew Cut would leave and frankly so did over 50% of the VolNation if he was offered a HC job somewhere.

I really, really think you are spot on here eric !! Lot of you on this board know much more about the politics in Knox. than I.....but, I do live in his home town...and..I do know some folks.
I really think/hope...since this is soo close to the vest..that this is going to be a good hire.....I firmly believe CPF..Loves UT with all his heart and soul......and will do whatever it takes to preserve a legasy.....Let's think about this........a prestigeous SEC school with Mill's$$$$$ to support he program........I just can't believe there is not a waiting list!!! IMHO

It's not like anyone visiting Tennessee wonders what kind of offense we'll run. That's just board debate.

With the departure of Cut we lost a possible visit from the #1 prospect in the nation. If a coach is less important than coed's, then shoot most players would consider the Pac-10 edition of Playboy as their primary recruiter than a coach with a playbook with "X Jet 24 Bear Left".

we weren't getting Pryor with Cut. Duke still won't get Pryor. The only shot we had at him was if he could play both sports. I don't recall where, but Fulmer said in an interview he doesn't like the idea. Stop dreaming.

But are you telling me that a young 17-18 year old who's trying to make the biggest decision of his life thus far won't be concerned who his coach will be? I think that is a bigger concern than what stadium he'll be playing in.

I never said we were getting the guy, just stating we lost a POSSIBLE visit from him.

Interested/intrigued, now you are splitting hairs. With intrigue is some level of assumed interest.

His coach will be Coach Phil Fulmer who will hire someone who runs an offense that looks like the one we've seen for years. Position coaches may be named before the OC is named. :dunno:

I think it's a little more complex than that, but I'll leave it there. We're both Vol fans aren't we? :eek:k:
