What happened to Dooley?

My first post on this thread was Post #53. I want to thank most all of the posters since, because you made my point.......very clearly. NO ONE knows what he's doing. People on here are guessing and proposing all sorts of things he "might" be doing. As a coach once said, "it is what it is", so we'll all have to take what we get from CDD.
Also, to all who say he pulled in a top 10 recruiting class.......He actually saved a top 5 to top 8 class from completely falling apart. He did a good job, but he still has to prove he can be the coach to bring that type of player in to begin with. Now.....regardless of how tihs sounds, I still support him, he's the coach, and I wish him all the success he could possibly have. He's a nice, family man, with good ethics, and I hope he does well.

I just think all us Vol fans would like to get to know him a little better. It would not take much of his time to go on several sport talk radio shows.

He's hired to win football games. That is ultimately what he'll be judged on. I might be in the minority on this but I don't necessarily feel that fans are entitled to access. It's nice, but as long as he wins games I personally don't care how often I see him on TV or hear him on the radio.

I guess then the semi-daily ESPN coverage of Kiffin's tongue masterbation is something you miss?

yada, yada, yada, blah, blah, blah

That's the best you can do, dumb statement that Florida and Bama have problems. Just read an article where both of them along with Texas have several big time commits for 2011 and are already leading the rest of the nation for 2011.

I think Adams might have actually said it best in his column last night (believe it or not). Good read on TOS.

I don't understand why everyone is complaining about not getting "updates" from Dooley. All that I want as a Vol fan and alum is for our team to be competitive and win some games. Dooley has been on the job for a little over a month, has signed a top ten recruiting class, filled out his coaching staff, and now has to get his coaches "in sync" and his system in place. He also has to meet his existing players, identify "his" feeling for our strengths and weaknesses, establish a plan for spring practice, and decide what recruits will fit into our new offensive and defensive systems. On top of all that, he has to find a home in Knoxville and get his family settled there and so does most of his assistant coaches. He has alot on his plate, and please forgive him if he doesn't have the time to give daily updates about the status of the UT program just to coddle insecure Vol fans. I was very skeptical about his hiring at first, but he seems to be doing a great job, has put together a young, and (hopefully) up and coming staff. We can't pass judgement until we see the product that he puts on the field. I have a gut feeling that all Vol fans will be pleasantly suprised.

I don't have time to watch ESPN 24/7 so i may have missed something, but I do listen to a lot of national sports talk radio. The Loud Mouth from Compton is the only coach I've seen or heard doing an interview. Even Cryer's medical problems have seemed to be cured. Most sports programs are focused on the NBA, March Madness and the Olympics. It seems to me that Dooley is following the M.O. of every other D-1 coach in College Football.

Give Coach a break. He hit the ground running non stop for a month. I am sure he is trying to get his family moved to Knoxville, his wife has to shut down her practice, kids changing school, reviewing film and getting ready for spring practice in four weeks, molding his coaching philosophy on his new staff and laying out a plan, and getting a jump start on next year's recruiting class. Maybe he is a professional and doesn't want to here himself talk like someone else we know.

Look Dooley is a classy guy he is getting to know the school, the Athletic Dept., the coaching staff, the players, the boosters & the fans. This often requires quiet time and behind the scenes PLANNING. This is not shoot from the "lips" type of guy like kiffen. He is a strategy guy not a tatical guy. So his plan has to meet all of his goals, meaning he has to actually plan out is long term program.

Agreed. I don't understand people here having an issue because they haven't heard anything out of DD lately. He was thrown into a fire...pretty much kicked azz having to put together a staff AND recruit a top 10 class plus move his family from one state to another...geez people.

I think he clearly doesn't care about the program or succeeding here...

If I had to guess I'd say he's sitting back, basking in the glory of his new job and telling all of his coaching staff/players/administrators not to worry...he'll start working hard when the time is right...and not one second sooner

This has got to one of the dumbest things I have ever heard..I know there are some not so bright fans but COME ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hopefully, Dooley has a presser soon to explain what's going on.

Just in case he doesn't, here's "what's going on"...

- CDD is very, very busy installing his system, and getting his coaching staff in sync with it...
- He's also very, very busy getting a conditioning program...practice regimen...playbook...and daily / weekly / monthly routine installed...
- Learning his roster. Finding the playmakers. Then finding a way to get them on the field, and in the game...
- Spring practice is just around the corner, so...
- And very, very busy sorting out the 2011 recruiting class...
- Still very, very busy scouting the SEC, and UT's 2010 opponents...
- Gotta get the family moved...when he gets time...
- And keep MH and the boosters happy...
- Quality time with the kids, and maybe take the Mrs. out to dinner once a week or so...
- And the dog has crapped all over the new backyard, so...

Y'know what? Screw the presser. I'll gladly trade "weekly updates" for 8...or 7...or hell, 6 wins. This is not about "pressers"...or even this year...this is about the long-term return to dominance of UT football.

Don't tell me about it...show me.

Go Vols.
