What happened to Boo?

"Nobody expects Boo to be here next year," said Price. "And the fact he didn't play a defensive snap against Oklahoma tells me his status with the defensive staff. Now, he was back there for punts....But Josh Heupel pointed out in his press conference that they had a couple of line drive [punts] that basically Boo elected to fair catch and not return that he could have returned. And I'd say there's some frustration there.
"Listen, if you're not gonna play him on defense, I wouldn't have him return punts. Because ultimately, he's not very happy. And Tennessee wasn't very happy with his effort at Kentucky. Boo earned his stripes last year through his play. This year, he decided to go AWOL in July, he had to go through some stuff off the field to be back on this football team, [and he] still had some minor hiccups behind the scenes. And this staff has kind of stuck with him, even with him kind of coming off the bench - he's not been very good. And if he's not going to be zoned in, locked in, and be willing to do the little things, then I don't think you can trust him to do the little things out there in a big game in the Swamp or at home against Vanderbilt. So for me, if I'm the coach, I'm going in a different direction at this point in time. But that's me."

He had to make up WEEKS of workouts and wasn't allowed to dress out or practice until he made all of them up in addition to other things as laid out by coach and the leadership council. Did you not pay attention during the offseason? He also lost his starting position. You guys are just looking for any reason to be upset at the coaches right now. Admit it. It's Heupel's job to keep the locker room under control and when the other players want to give him a chance, how do you think kicking him off of the team would go? Especially a month before the season starts with no opportunity to bring in a transfer

Don't act like this. The one thing that Heupel has always been good at is keeping the locker room together. It is echoed throughout every player interview when talking about coach.
I agree with your take. Extra workouts are a punishment as old as time for athletes. You work out with the team then get the "extra" work to make up for your mistakes.

Back when dinosaurs were still around and I played the coaches would make you do sprints for mistakes in the game. Missed tackles, fumbles, out of alignment.... It was not fun....

He let the hype go to his head and started to believe that he is bigger than the team. Which is why I no longer am a Boo Carter fan and if he left for the transfer portal that I wouldn't lose any sleep over it.

Heuple post game comments he said they were 2 line drive punts that Boo could have returned but did not. He ended his playing D in the KY game and demoted to just punt returns and now I believe ended his playing days here with the OK game. I would be surprised if he sees the field rest of the season, and for good reasons. He is gone now.
Agree. And I said before - but can’t confirm- he is supposedly missing practices and/or workouts. We will never know as most of the players are tight lipped. But they are over Boo. I’d let him sit the bench rest of yr. He isn’t giving us anything on the field. He doesn’t care.

I mean, say whatever you will about his coaching, but the guys health is genuinely terrible. He’s had blood clots, toes amputated, and his bladder removed. He’s not faking it whatsoever.
His health is horrible and it’s hard to see a guy like him go through that stuff. Saw him play with SF at Atlanta in 94 and lived watching that dude. His health issues are very real and the fact he’s endured it while having that job is crazy. However, his health issues are also an easy out for both parties without admitting failure.
