What happened to Boo?

Pass defense played better without him
Probably because he was jogging in last weeks game giving half effort. McMurray had a good game in his absence with a sack and good coverage. We held Mateer under 200yds passing and this was our best defensive performance vs an SEC team all year.

Boo is gone in January regardless. His choice. He always was. The VQ guys have said so all year without wavering and they know much better than we do what goes on. Play the guys who will be here next year.

I agree it was the best pass defense game this year. IMO Mateer is a mid QB at best. Maybe his thumb is worse than what’s being told. He’s their only real threat on offense besides the 1 WR they have. Runs defense was solid minus that one play in the 4th quarter except when trying to contain the QB, he was the only threat.
Not gonna miss the drama from Carter honestly

The star and safety are the weakness right now. Redmond played a very good game. He has improved a lot. He even made a critical open field tackle on Mateer. McMurray isn't any better then Boo at star. Turrentine is real bad also. Farooq also had a very good game. He and Redmond will be studs next year.

I normally don’t say this about players on our roster but I welcome it. It’s clear he doesn’t care, clear his teammates don’t respect him, and clear he’s nothing but a problem in the locker room.

Right. Just like Urban Meyer always retired due to "health" every few years once he ran a program aground. His health isn't the reason Colorado sucks. It sucks because Sanders is their coach.

What?

Dude, Dion missed all of spring practice this year because he had to get treatments for blood clots that already cost him several toes, and that's coming off of bladder cancer treatment that required him to have his bladder removed, and new bladder created from a piece of his small intestine.

One thing I've seen Boo beat on a lot this year is slants. Now, understand that a slant, for a nickel back or star, is the toughest route to cover in the slot. Because the receiver always gets a free release. So I forgive him for all of those. He's had a couple of REALLY solid games this year.

Something I've noticed is that fans are always really critical of the defensive backs because it's a position you very rarely always win at and they tend to remember every miss and not any of the excellent plays.

Good points. For several years, as I see it, the ol’ slant across the middle has been our Achilles heel. It’s money against our defense.

To me . . . All of the off field drama stuff and team impact is probably unknowable to fans. I look at his performance (whether ability driven or attitude driven or likely both) . . . And he is simply not that good. He is not dynamic as a punt returner and often looks lost / takes bad angles on defense. I see no big loss if he leaves. Maybe he is super talented and has not shown it due to a bad attitude? But what he has shown is a dime a dozen in the SEC (except not in the NIL era).

I defended Boo for the first quarter of the season. I’ve been done with it for the past two games. It’s painfully obvious that Boo is checked out mentally. They are things that people learn earlier in life than others. I don’t think that boo has ever learned to overcome adversity. I think he has gotten through most of his life because he is a better athlete than most people. When any adversity pops up, he decides to move to another place versus tackling adversity head on.

The old saying that iron sharpens iron is true. You don’t grow without being challenged and you don’t get strong stronger without lifting heavy weight

Boo is mentally checked out. He ran out of bounds on two punt returns and muffed another. He also once again took bad angles on defense and gave half of an effort. He’s gone once the winter portal hits in January and he knows it. Frankly, I’m all for it too. Let’s spend that NIL money on two mean three stars who play with something to prove.
Agree. I figure he’ll declare on the first day of the portal.

I’d guess UT has chosen for him to be gone at this point.
