What did you have for dinner II?

Lotta birds in them thar tractors. Got wheels on 'em?

Long ago, when the world was new and death was but a dream, I envisioned a HUGE mobile chicken enclosure (coop included) having aluminum framing and wheels on hydraulic pistons. To move these monsters, you engage the wheels, which are designed to keep the bottom frame just above the ground. The hydraulic pistons continue to provide support over uneven contours. Humans could move these, or they could be towed by vehicle or beast of burden. These would be moved across large fields in a pattern which keeps the chickens on fresh ground. Chicken litter would fertilize the fields, which could be alternately left fallow or grazed by other animals. "Are the chickens in four, Bob?" "No, Larry, they've still got 5 days in three before we open the fencing and move 'em over."
Have have several neighbors who do this. Of course, the tractors are only 6x8 or so (my best guess.) The chickens do a great job of scratching up (aerating) the soil and eating grubs.

Apparently they will eat stink bugs too. Yum!

My fever dream contraptions are gigantic. A human can stand upright inside of one. The interior hen house is centered and suspended from the top framing for balance and access. Hen ramps can be raised and lowered from outside via cabling, so one doesn't have to enter the enclosure prior to moving it. Engage the wheels, everybody push it onto the adjacent piece of pasture that matches its footprint. Alternately, hook it up to the ox or tractor. 20' x 20', 20' x 30', even bigger. One may employ skirting on uneven patches of ground to keep out foxes.

It’s my last day off of six. Finally got some yardwork done today with all the rain that we’ve had. But it was great relaxing at home being out of the public and decompressing. Tonight I’m doing chicken kebabs over charcoal!417551A8-BEE4-48B3-9CD7-46C998F99FD5.jpeg

When we visited the organic farm in Cuba, they didn’t have a chicken tractor, but they had a huge enclosure with chickens and rabbits that hung four feet off the ground. Protection from snakes.

Romaine salad lightly tossed in ranch dressing with a scoop of cottage cheese, Parmesan cheese shavings, and a slice of toasted multigrain bread. Oh, and a glass of Merlot.

Ok Here is a teaser or two. These are the 30 or so laying chicks that my wife has for eggs and 2 PITA roosters . The next one is a look at one of my planted fields Oats and crimson clover and pasture with the old chicken tractor we used last year., and a junior version of your fever dream coop for our ladies. Its pretty big and has quad riding mower tires for motivation in the rear and articulating 8 inch steering wheels with a tow hitch in front.
New and improved tractor pictures and baby chick pics will have to wait a bit. Going to the Memory care facility to collect the rest of my dads stuff to take to mom. Gonna be a sad day but gonna come home and try to finish the tractors by Weds.
Had a fresh Brat from the pasture pig with spicy mustard grilled onion and sauerkraut with Sweet potato wedges.

Ain't had it yet, but today's menu will be a killer chicken soup. Chicken, sliced fennel bulb, carrots, chicken stock, lemon, dill, orzo pasta. Like one of the best chicken soups we've ever had. Weight watchers recipe. Will also add some red beans and rice with wagyu ground beef for the kid.

Taco Tuesday with take out from the Yucatán place - pork belly, fish, and steak tacos with refried black beans and their salad of avocado chunks with chopped tomatoes, onions, cilantro and peppers. In addition, there were tortilla chips with mild red jalapeño salsa and potent orange habenero salsa.

Chicken, black bean, onion, and cheese quesadilla with chopped tomatoes, avocado, and Greek yogurt
Close to ours. Cooked boneless skinless chicken things in a non-stick skillet with cumin, garlic powder, chili powder, smoked paprika, S&P. Chopped those up. Then mashed black beans with green chilis, and served it all over lettuce with hot salsa and sour cream, chips on the side.

This stuff is awesome! We bought medium, and it's hot! lol
