I am coming to the conclusion that either a city needs to have a university with a lot of foreign students, or be in an area with a lot of Asians, in order to have decent Chinese food.

Asheville is great, but having forty-‘leven James Beard chefs plating with tweezers does not seem to result in a reliable greasy spoon Chinese takeout place.

My favorite Chinese is at place near Wash U in STL. Wash U has a large number of Asian Americans. I'll send menu in mid-June whenwe visit. Generous portions, and restaurant is in process of moving to new location

Drunk chicken. Smoked corn. Baked beans. St. Louis cut smoked ribs. If you know what a rib bone is supposed to do when it’s done right I have nothing left to say. But yes, the meat willingly fell off when I picked it up. Yay son.

I love fall-off-the-bone ribs. They’re on my list of what to eat if I ever wind up with dentures and don’t feel like putting them in. Just mumble the ribs.

Rerun of Monday’s dinner, but this time in my own kitchen with my own equipment.

Lemon chicken sautéed with onions and garlic in a cast iron grill pan, with asparagus/red onion/sliced cherry tomatoes/ feta cheese in a vinaigrette that I’ll be making again and again.
