What are they going to do?

Not to be a jerk or anything.....but hasn't this been said every year over the past 12 years?
Not by me it hasn’t. Since Fulmer left I have never at anytime felt like Tennessee was close to returning to competing for championships. I think we’re on the road back.

Maybe my expectations have been dumbed down by the last decade of misery but I'd consider the season to be going just fine if only we had beat F'ing Kentucky.

In year 3, it would be nice to at least show up against Bama, UGA, and UF but I am OK still losing to 2 of the 3 at this point and hopefully pulling one out against UGA or UF. Beating the rest of the East should be the floor. In a normal year, beating the OOC cupcakes is a given and notching a win against a solid P5 conference team for good measure.

As for 'pulling it together and starting to whip tail,' how about we just don't lose to MF'ing Kentucky!!!! Let's start there.....

I thought of a different angle on this question... I'm going to continue to go back and watch replays of games prior to 2005 when I need a Big Orange Football fix.

We aren't there but I agree we are on the road headed there.
I think there a lot of fans who think like this but they keep quiet be cause if they speak up the Legion of the Miserables will mercilessly attack them. Tennessee is like a teenager right now, you can see their potential and progress but there are days when its really bad and they really piss you off.

Pruitt is the best...home run!!! Doing great.
Team clicking on all cylinders.
Everything is awesome.

This is the type of posting that we'll get you "attacked" by the "Legion of Miserables"

Nobody want to lose to Kentucky, but consider this, Kentucky hired a pretty good coach in Stoops. They have left him in place for 8 seasons! Are they Bama? No, but they may not be the Kentucky that we consider to forever be a bottom dweller of the East. They've been building with same guy for years. If they start playing multiple chairs they'll be right back where they were, and so are we.

What are The Legion of Miserables going to do when we put it all together and start whipping tail? A lot of screen names will be changed that's for sure. I don't think the hardcore Negavols will be able to handle it and will become Georgia fans, the original Legion of Misery.[/Fire offensive line coach Will Friend.

I really hope this happens because this coach and staff have shown they can recruit last year class this year so far so finally winning big on the field would move us into the Elite of Recruiting then we can compete for championships year in year out. I am not ready to start over again. In CHRIST Alone

For the last time people that are pissed about the program aren't "happy to be miserable". It's such a stupid childish take. Grow up. People express themselves differently. If you feel hopeful and want to take up for the team and that's what helps you GOOD. Some people aren't like that and need to vent to feel better.

For me, I have been a Vol fan for 60 years in my travels over this globe. Seen some good times and bad times. The pendulum started swinging more bad after DC left in 98, yes 98! We had some good teams for the next few years but we also had some awful teams during the Fulmer years.

Enter Kiffin. I did not like the hire primarily based on Al Davis' comments about him. He was a recruiting violation just waiting to happen. Not a good fit for the Tennesse brand of football. However, I still supported him because of my love for Tennessee football.

Enter Dooley and Jomes. Two hires who, in my opinion, were again not in the Tennessee style of football. Could not handle the stress of the SEC and contributed to the further decline of Tennessee football. However, I suckesuck it up and supported them for a while.

Enter Pruitt! When he was announced I had to say who is this guy Pruitt? Knew little about him. After research I discovered he has a favorable resume, other than being a Bama player. After his initial interview I liked what he said but had reservations about lack of head coaching experience. First year, he had a mulligan in my book. Just wanted to see effort. Year two, lose to GEORGIA STATE! First warning sign I pretty much ignored because I wanted to believe. BYU another bad loss. The year was finished fairly strong with victories over mediocre teams. My faith in Pruitt is rising!

Now this year ... I say all this to say yes I am still Tennessee fan! However, my passion is fading. I just watch the games with little emotion. I will not financially support this program again until I see some proof we can field a competive team regulary against the big boys. Just been burned too many times over the years by the UT ADMINISTRATION and the HASLAMS.

We're enduring what we'd expect when we've gotten throttled the last 3 games by historic measure, and teams have scored more on off our offense when our D's not on the field, than our offense has scored in the last 10 quarters of football. Full off season mode. Better win that Ark game. Win Ark and Aub and we're back to discussing our potential future bright skies.

By "whipping tail" do you mean not losing to teams like Georgia State, Kentucky and Vandy? We can dream..... Also, what if it never happens? Nebraska, UCLA, Minnesota, Pitt, Army, Georgia Tech and many others are schools with proud football traditions that have become irrelevant and more than likely will never come back. Tennessee hasn't been nationally relevant since 1998, so you've had an entire generation of kids grow up and graduate college without knowing Tennessee as anything but an also ran. The league isn't getting any weaker with Kentucky on the rise. Recruiting classes mean nothing if you can't develop talent. So what actual evidence do you have that they are "going to put it all together and start whipping tail?"

What do you see that makes you think that? A defense that can't not get blown out in the SEC every year? Or is the offensive juggernaut that averages 20 points a game and has a QB who can't throw more than 2 TD a game?

Are our most talented players Jrs and Srs? Nope.

Our leading receivers are seniors, our leading tackler is a junior, our best offensive linemen is a senior, our best kicker is a senior, our best defensive backs are juniors, the top 4 tackling defensive linemen are all seniors, our sack leader is a senior, our best tight end is a junior, apparently our best quarterback is a senior according to the coach at least. But yes, outside of that our best players seem to be sophomores basically meaning Eric Grey and Henry T.

There are better behind our best, just young. You saw it last week, our best receiver is a freshman.
