Except for the fact I've blamed them both. I've repeatedly said that everyone in that locker room had a hand in this. In fact, I've stated that in almost every post!
As I pointed out earlier, you obviously are not paying any attention. Are you quoting the wrong posts? Wrong thread? Wrong board? :dunno:
Dude they've gotten worse.I said earlier this year if we lose many games it will be early in the season. We will play even better football down the stretch. The guys we need to rely on are young. Now that they have some playing time under their belts we will continue to improve down the stretch.
Call me crazy, but I like our chances this week and next. I think this team is better than most of you are giving them credit for. You are so focussed on the record that you can't seem to remember the in all of the football we have played just how close all 3 losses have been. We have had an opportunity to win them all on the last possession of all 3 games.
The percentages are in our favor, that the ball starts to bounce our way soon.
It's true if you ignore anything to the contrary. I've mentioned the coaching yet you can't admit maybe the players could do what they were recruited to do.
As bad as the coaching has been at times, a couple of plays from those high star recruits puts us at 4-1 minimum
The fact that all of these highly touted players are under performing should tell us that player development is single biggest issue.
There is the rub for me over anything Jones is saying in the press conferences about keeping a list or a bunker mentality or whatever.
People are overreacting to stuff like that IMO.
But when he says the team is getting better but there is nothing on the field on Saturdays proving that is a different story.
Tackling has been much, much worse this season.
Dobbs played like a warrior against Florida but hasn't improved his accuracy, not that he has been given much opportunity to show anything else but the ability to scramble out of trouble.
The offensive line continues to be terrible and there have been plays where those guys have been flat out lazy.
Medley is starting to struggle more and more.
Sorry, it's just getting really difficult to find any improvement out of this team and it continues to add up in more and more losses.
I'm in no way defending Jones here...Your view about improvement (based on your post) is very narrow not the sentiment, but in scope, this years team to last years team.
From any Coach's perspective I would think last year is over and they are comparing players from week to week this season, or going back to camp maybe. He is talking, for example, maybe Tuttle from months ago to now, or his actions during the last game compared to snaps he's played in previous games...multiplied by every player on the team.
Also, statistically anyway, the O Line is performing superior to last season in the run game as well as allowing less sacks, that may still be due to Dobbs mobility to a degree.
In most every offensive category, statistically, we are performing better than last year with the exception of the passing game.
The defense on the other hand, especially the pass defense, is lagging behind and tackling has been an issue, but Jones did address that today along with attention to detail and fundamentals and JRM acknowledged those areas as well.
Special teams have been outstanding with the exception of Medley, but that is always a tricky thing to deal with imo.
So, not really disagreeing with you from a fan's perspective, just trying to point out that what a coach might be calling improvement might not be something fans might know about or even give a hoot about, that's all.
GBO!!!
Points are well taken, especially on a week to week versus a year to year comparison and what a coach may consider improvement versus what a fan considers improvement.
The fan's perspective is all that we have at the end of the day however and, based on what I am seeing week to week and year to year, I just don't see marked improvement.
You alluded to the O line and there has been some gains. To focus just on the o line though, we are talking about degrees of poor play. Like going from atrocious last season to bad this season.
And if you pay attention to the play of these guys, #63 specifically, you'll see the same mistakes being made against Bowling Green that were made against Arkansas to the point that teams are keying on him more and more with no help the coaching staff.
Kendrick keeps showing up on the highlights in a bad way yet he isn't being held accountable by being sent to the bench or any adjustments in terms of scheme( a TE or RB helping out as an example).
Neither you nor I can do a thing about it except discuss it on here though.
I agree to an extent, however, so far we only have one common opponent to compare this year to last, UF.
Last year according to UT Sports we ran the ball 29 times for 28 yards for a 1.0 yd/att...that seems like funny math, seems like it should be less than a yard per carry.
This year we rushed 254 yards on 51 carries for a 5.0/yds/att...
Last season we rushed for 2 first downs, this year 13...
Last year, we gave up 6 sacks, this year 3...
I'm not here to say that we're good, but I'm not going to ignore what seems like improvement, to what degree is debatable I suppose.
I agree the right side of the line has issues, bye week coming soon we might see some changes though freshman debuting versus Bama is a lot to ask, at least on the OL.
Played Oklahoma last year versus this year as well. I am sure the stats will also pan out much better similar to the Florida comparison.
Especially since Worley started at QB and got killed that game in sacks.
It's official, Butch is taking names. What is he, a primary school teacher?
It's clear that Butch's unwavering displays of arrogance, and denial, are not just tendencies, but are rather just another parading of his deeply ingrained behavioral fallacies.
Speaking of fallacies, one of the all-time chief exhibits of arrogance was the comment about his having a "plan that is infallible."
Not so infallible, now is it?
