We've Been Down This Road Before.

Dude you should change your screen name to Debbie_Downer4UT. Why don't you just not post untill we are good again, or untill UT comes to you and asks your opinion on the next hire. Cause everybody knows that they are worried about what you think, because your opinion means so much more than everybody else's due to your obscenely high post count. You are cool, I wanna be like you when I grow up. :neener2:

Won't work. We're really, really good in basketball right now and he still criticizes daily. If we were ranked number 1 in the country in fb and bb he would start criticizing the woman's rowing team. His description of Dooley has Kiffinish qualities to it. He does need a new handle to go with all that negativity.

I don't get it. - From his picture I get a very happy upbeat individual - always a joy to be around. No wait---maybe not so much.

but, but....Dooley has a southern accent...He's bound to be successful here!!!!!

Good play kind sir, good play.... I'm not even mad, I'm impressed...:birgits_giggle:

Kippy should have been given the job!It would have excited and united the fan base.Instead we got this guy.MAYBE this works out,but MH passed on a stand up guy with tons of coaching experience and TN ties.I would call that a BAD decision.

I'm not anti-Kippy. I loves me some Kippy. The point is, it's all over but the cryin, and GOD help me, I'm gettin sick and tired of all of you guy's cryin. Shoulda, woulda, coulda... No matter who we hired, somebody would get mad, take their toys, and go home. Cause him wouldn't wonna play anymore...Poor fellas...:birgits_giggle::thumbsup:

Dooley is a downgrade from what we had here right before him, and I'm not even talking about Kiffin. Kippy Brown wasn't going to turn us down...

Kippy essentially did turn us down. Dooley wanted to keep him on staff and Kippy didn't even hang around long enough to meet Dooley. Kippy was treated poorly by Hamilton but he was not as attractive a candidate as Dooley or 3 or 4 others.

Kippy great guy and great assistant coach --- there is a reason he has not already been a head coach at a major university. He isn't the total package. Could he have been interim for a year --- yes.

I think that Dooley is going to surprise a ton of you Hat clones.

Also, I can't believe the "Big Money Boosters" signed off on this hire...

I find that hard to believe as well. The way Hamilton does his search in the cloak of darkness, it seems he has complete authority to do whatever he pleases.

I don't know why he didn't just announce himself as the new HFC at UT. Surely, he's not making anything close to the money he's giving away. And, as far as I know, Hamilton does not have the liability of a losing record in football on his resume.

And, he can do both jobs, AD and HFC, equally as effective for the same amount of money. Seems like that would have been a steal, but maybe he's just too humble.

Kippy left because we turned him down...not vice versa

So you're saying money was an issue? I was under the impression money was no issue.
No, I'm simply pointing out that hiring Kid Gynomite means boosters didn't have to dig as deep into their pockets. They, like any other sane person, never object to holding on to their money.

So I can only express my opinion if its positive.I Will always support the vols, but dont mean I can't question MH's actions.

What if they interviewed all the candidates and after interviewing them all they concluded --- you know that young Dooley fellow is the best of the candidates we interviewed.

Funny how the contract was being worked out as the Kippy interview was still going on then.

Then we interviewed a group of candidates unfit for the Lenoir Rhyne job.

To be fair, all the names we were hearing sounded absolutely terrible. I don't want Muschamp hear at all, but he seemed like the top name we were going after. It's sickening. I'd rather hold out longer and take a chance with Bob Stoops, even if he says no. Throw in more money if it would change his mind. I'm also surprised Gruden would be so unreceptive, seeing as he isn't coaching. Is there no amount of money he would have accepted?

Remember how Bama's AD kept pushing Saban to come, and kept pushing and pushing, even though he said no plenty of times? Well, this is probably what Hammy did...

Hamilton: Hey, Jon, It's Mike Hamilton, AD from UT...Would you consider the UT job at all?

Gruden: Um, no thanks Mike. I'm happy where I'm doing.

Hammy: Thanks, Jon. Talk to you later.

And end scene.

Hamilton should have called Gruden 100 times and if he didn't, I'm really disappointed.
