We've Been Down This Road Before.

That's not funny, nor was it professional or fair to Kippy. That being said Dooley was the better candidate of the two and they had already reached that conclusion. They should have handled the timing and release of everything to treat Kippy with the professionalism he deserved.

Kippy in my opinion shouldn't have gotten po'd, should have stayed helping build the best staff in America and shouldn't have headed for the Left Coast. He needs to be here, his family needs to be here, etc. What changed his mind in 3 weeks??

I didn't mean funny as in haw haw,and I dont blame kippy for leaving after the way hambone treated him!

No it doesn't,Kippy said don't interview me for the job if im not gonna get a real shot at it,,guess what.MH kicked dirt in his face!

Handled very poorly. No doubt about it. The problem is partially related to the process. Apparently, if interviewed and not offered, you have to have a presser in the next 24 hours indicating that you turned it down.

No doubt those are some of the reasons he left. Just as Hamilton needed to interview all the candidates Kippy should have met DD and interviewed with him before making his decision.

If I had been in Kippy's shoes I too would have been po'd but Seattle versus Knox-vegas aka Heaven?

Someone track down what his position and salary are in Seattle. It rains every day and the cost of living is higher.

Seahawks website doesn't have him listed yet, might have to dig deeper.

Gotta run, wife says I'm obsessing again.

Again agree-- it was handled very poorly, but someone should have apologized to Kippy and said Kippy - think about it a couple days and get back to us. We need you man.

I should of seen it, but the way you worded it confused me a little.

I just get the feeling that he spent the week low balling anyone with any credentials (if he went after them) and adding the staff constraint to their discussions. They laughed at him enough until he went to LA Tech and threw every concession we had at that guy.

The need for secrecy in the search is over. It's time for full disclosure. Now, I want to know all the details and specifics about how this was so freaking botched.

It's just unacceptable that UT cannot hire a decent coach.

I'm not okay with this hire or this process. It was a bad process with a bad outcome executed in a hasty and autocratic fashion.

Btw.. again, I'm fine with the Kiffin hire, but not with the contract details for CLK or the ones with his staff. Right people, wrong contracts as they did not protect the program from this fiasco and that is what they should have been written to do.

From my vantage point, this all falls on the AD. All the faults noted are in his job description.

UT football deserves better. It sux that we now seem hellbent on following the Bama model for years to come until we're willing to pay market value for a quality, proven head coach. Can't we just skip the two decades of humiliation that Bama's process taught us?

It will only take two weeks to find out if he recruits at the level his proponents claim.

I hope so, but I'm glad he's already been set up with a top 10 class and just has to hold it instead of actually having to go out and get it himself.

It should be easier to hold than to secure, but I'm willing to give the man some credit if he simply keeps what we've got.

Alright MJ, were gonna put you in the finals against Magic and La, and your down 3-0, and its game 4 in La with the score 102-85 with 5:00 left in the 4th. Now, should you not come back and win the Title, you will be scrutinized as a failure!!

Please tell me you didn't just compare Dooley to Jordan.

Shouldn't you be burning all those "books" you told people to write the fact of Muschamp's hiring in?

See something consistent in the Kiffin and Dooley hires? Both were in charge of recruiting for a major college, USC in one case and LSU in the other. Obviously this was part of Hamilton's agenda, as it should have been. I don't think we need a technician type of guy, like a position coach from the NFL, as badly as we do someone who can recruit the South, and the rest of the nation, for talent.

Recruiter first as head coach; hire great staff for the technical part. That was the Kiffin strategy, and this also I think.

Because we could have brought in someone with a lot of potential, and see what he can do, instead of hire a guy who went 4-8 from the WAC. I still can't believe people can defend that. Other than the Sun Belt, it's the worst conference in football. A good coach can easily have a winning record there. What does it say about Dooley that he couldn't?

oh, it won't take that. When UT is 6-6 in his fourth year, and he has a sub .500 record, he will be already labeled a failure.

He is nothing in that position. Even with all the recent decommittments, he still has a Top 25 class. It's not like asking the Red Sea to part to have a top 20 class this year.

Yes we have been down this road before....and frankly your drivel has grown tiresome.

Its fine to have an opinion and to express it. Just accept the fact that you arent always 100% correct about everything

impossible and how dare you question the great one
