It's the worst kind of ponzi scheme. It forces the poor to pay for the retirement of the wealthier class.

A blue collar fella who works from 18-65 typically dies younger. So he worked 47 years and got, say, 5 years of retirement. A white collar fella more typically works 22-60 and then lives longer, so he worked 38 years and gets, say, 20 years of retirement. It's a huge transfer of wealth, and that's not even mentioning that it might not be there when I retire.

Almost everybody is on the same page about SS#, but we can't get any meaningful change.
I look at it as something that I was forced to do, in order that poor people would have some kind of retirement. I could have gone through life just fine without either contributing or taking benefits. Not my idea. Ponzi scheme for the poor.

I can think of at least two times in history when being a neighbor to Germany was very bad thing.

Well Germany apparently has hung their balls on the wall and decided to become full apologetic and pacifist, so yeah you're right.

Regardless of how you choose to view it, the reality is it's a transfer of wealth from the poor to the upper class.

What other country would you say has a better system than ours?

Well, this is beside the point, but to keep this somewhat subjective, I highly value a free market. We rank 17th on the economic freedom index. All 16 countries that rank ahead of us have lower debt to GDP ratios, and most are much lower.

Explain how SS is a transfer of wealth from the poor to the rich? The lower wage earners get more from SS than the higher earners.

Well, that's one of the very few tools left to perpetuate this scam. You can't get blood from a turnip and the government has no compunction about stealing money. The brilliance was the creation of this thing in the first place. If it wasn't going to hurt people, it would be entertaining to watch this great swindle come to it's predictable at conception ending.

The FICA annual cap will be lifted... Problem solved

I would love a system where if you either don't pay taxes in or you take federal assistance out, you are excluded from casting a vote. I would like this to be implemented in Rural and City areas.

I have pitched this a couple of times. Everyone gets one vote. After that you get a vote multiplier based on your real tax rate. Fed elections only.

You realize that we have become the worlds police force don't you? This is what Trump has been harping on, we have been expected to protect Europe and Asia with them riding our coat tails. They have been spending their money on expanding their economy while we spend money defending the world.
I'm in the screw em camp, defend your own country and we'll defend ours.

Right. The system is completely ****ed up.

That would be another public middle class tax increase. Good luck getting elected. The key to increasing taxes is to be stealthy about it. Inflation and money printing is an example of an effective stealth tax.

Appalachia is drawing record breaking people on government assistance because the dumb d!ck democrats shut down the mines and don't give a rat's a$$ what happens to the people of swva.

And I see you say all the time, people can adapt and get new jobs in different fields. Well when is that going to happen? And when are all the young men in the inner cities going to adapt and find a job? Welfare is a means of oppressing people, period and not just black people.

More likes needed on this post. You can include Kentucky on this also.

who own rental homes or duplexes are the same way. Don't give a crapy about landscaping or maintenance as long as people are sending in their rent checks. I live in a historic area with a lot of big, old homes. Most are single family and very nice but a fair number were turned into duplexes or rentals many years ago--and they are the worst-maintained and worst-looking properties in the area, without fail.

As for welfare, one could argue that some welfare programs need to tighten their requirements, and they need to do a better job of weeding out fraud--this is a longstanding problem with big, government programs. It might also help if America's massive service sector--which employs huge numbers of people-- paid decent wages. There are /many millions/ of Americans who work hard but make no money. Most of the service jobs are CRAP--paying $9 a hour. That's poverty level. You work hard and well and you get a .35 cent pay raise--this is how they operate. UPS pays people $8.50 an hour to unload tractor trailers--and expects one big truck to be unloaded every hour. It's a joke. Modern-day slavery. America has got poor because American businesses don't like paying people. It is shameful.

For starters, poverty is subjective. If you only make 9 dollars an hour, perhaps you should work more than forty (something government regulations make difficult for you). It's not slavery. Clearly you don't understand slavery. The difference in consent.

America has got poor because of currency devaluation and taxes.

I've been cleaning an apartment for days after evicting a couple. They were undoubtedly 2 of the nastiest living m'fers that I ever had for tenants. I am still working on the stove. I have the bathroom pretty much in order, and most of the kitchen.

Put 3k into a pool. Tenants moved out, the pool needed another 3k. I'm selling that place ASAP and never buying another rental with a pool.

It's America. You have the option to better yourself and find a job that pays more than $8.50 an hour. For the record, ANYONE who has 2 arms can unload a truck. It literally takes no skill other than the ability to stand and lift.

But they work hard, therefore they should drive BMW's and have 70" flat screens with surround sound. They are entitled!

Come on, I thought you were smarter than this. There are so many things wrong in that argument I don't know where to start, so I won't.

You're going up against the greatest economist in American history about economics. I'm not surprised you can't muster up an argument.

It also taxes the poor at a greater rate than the wealthy.

This building is the only rental that I still own. It has 2 commercial rentals on the ground floor, and 4 apartments upstairs. I will probably eventually get rid of it. I am tired of the hassle.

I have kept the one commercial side empty, and hung on to it in case I want to go back to work in some kind of business. It is in a great location, but I can't think of anything that I really want to do that would make any money. I feel compelled to rent the apartments due to the property taxes and insurance.
