We need UT football back in the worst way

“Nothing to show for it....”. Only the 8th Sweet 16 in over 100 years of UT basketball. I think you need to get over yourself.
It was a very good year....31 wins and a Sweet 16 appearance. But BTO is correct, no titles of any sort for a team that was #1 in the country for a month. No SEC title. Didn’t win the SEC Tourney. Didn’t make it past the Sweet 16.

Both can be true and are....we had a very, very good b-ball season, but have very little to show for it, and certainly no titles.

I'm normally a pessimist....but I see over/under at 8. Miss St and So Car are going to be down JMO>>>>
I just don’t see 8 wins, not with this bad team. Hell, I don’t really see 7, too many toss-up games, but I’m feeling generous this morning.

I am still majorly concerned with both lines. I think we will start 2 true freshman on the OL. And we dont have anyone else that is close to a Trey Smith. I think the DL is going to be really bad. 7 wins is definitely going to be difficult.

Curious but why do you think SC is going to be down? Bentley is back. Muschamp is still the coach. The fact that WM is still the coach should be enough to beat us.

In three years we will be back. It’s gonna take that long. If we make a bowl, that is positive.
2 things :
1) all the idiots screaming for Coach Fulmer’s head got what they deserved. Very sadly.
2) The Braves are gonna be good for the next decade, so just enjoy that! Next game is tomorrow at 4:00- tune in and have fun!

Yes, However even you gotta feel frustrated that this awesome group of guys have nothing to show for it
Disappointed yes, frustrated no. I had no direct effect on the team other that to support them as much as possible. Just about got thrown out of the restaurant last night on the last call.

Basketball is cursed by the firing (that’s what I call it) of Jerry Green. Football is cursed by the firing of CPF.

Vols Men’s b-ball is a good team, and has made strides, but seems to always fall short

Women’s b-ball is struggling....

But we are a football school, always have been. We need our beloved Vols to start making some noise in the worst way. The Butch Jones era was fools gold, and we all know the pain of the Dooley era.

I have faith in Pruitt and the coaching staff but we desperately need to make a bowl and start winning on a regular basis....and that means being in contention for an SEC championship. Hopefully this year we turn it around and get back to where we were 20 years ago. Not sure why, but felt like this needed to be said. What say you?

I will believe it when I see it. A few years ago, I was hopeful for football and didn't give a diddly squat about basketball, especially after they fired Bruce. After more than ten years of football being mostly a joke with a bad punchline, and Barnes building the basketball team into a source of pride, I prefer basketball now. And until the targeting penalty goes away, I won't really watch college football much anymore. Do I miss it? Sure, but that nonsense has turned it into a clown show to me.

At least Phil cut Holly loose. Pruitt will have football better. We are just starved for something as fans. Sweet 16 is a disappointment when you are ranked top 10 for most of year.

You mean for the whole year. We were in the top ten all year.

I believe this football season will be another struggle. Maybe 7 wins. Hopefully we get back in 2020.
7 wins maybe 8 if they play the cards right. If the team stays relatively healthy 7 wins isn’t out of the question. If they win 8 next year I’ll be really surprised in a great way!!! Just imagine a 9-4 record in Pruitt’s 2nd season what they would do for recruiting?? Easily top 5 class in 2020....

I actually want us to be good at all three.

I’d take 2 outta 3 if it was football and men’s basketball. I’d rather watch paint dry than have to watch women’s basketball.

name one time in the last decade we was a football school..smh
You can be a "football school" independent of whether or not you are actually good at football at any given point in time. Indiana is a basketball school and their last very good basketball season was 2001-02. It's the sport that moves the needle.

Football is the sport that moves the needle here; always has been. Remember when we beat Gonzaga early in the season? By my recollection, the buzz the next day was roughly evenly split between that win and the OC search. Basketball was a top 10 team that had just beaten a #1, and football was coming off a 5-7 season. If that isn't evidence we're a football school, I'm not sure what is.

Same. Both lines are huge concerns.
