We got the right coach

Going forward Pruitt has one guaranteed loss in playing BAMA. Every other game is plausible that we win (obviously not that we will). With how the year is going, I see one win against UAB and that is being optimistic and I dont know how they are doing this year though I know they won 11 games last year. If our offense can play somewhat competently we have a chance at more. Pruitt's defense is awful though which is what concerns me about his coaching. Our D consistently looks lost pre snap.
I agree about the pre-snap confusion. Somebody needs to intervene on the D coaching staff.

Need to find the pass rush. BT looking better. TT and Crouch will continue to get better. Shamburger had a bad night but he has played much improved this year. I think the D will continue to improve but without a pass rush it wont show much on the field.

My problem is:

I saw an offensive that was fired up. I saw a team that looked motivated......however...

I didn’t see a team that looked improved....really at all.

Sure we got fire from the O early (from the qb change) but I didn’t see “improvement.” From the second half on the passing game was freakin worse than awful.......not to mention the coaches quit on a running game before the game even started (until late 4th quarter).

All of the D looked bad and I saw at least 5 times when players lined up in the wrong spot, or didn’t get lined up before the snap or someone was on the field who shouldn’t have been.

Georgia will make a lot of D’s look bad.....but dang, give me small improvements.....like more discipline.....something that’s totally in your control.

I want to see improvement......it’s that simple for me.

On a good note. The new QB should get better with more reps.....that could help Tennessee.

Comical again. It's always the sign of the biggest beta when they try to spout degrees and financial successes as their argument against... insert every argument here.

Since you want to know, I have a degree in finance and could retire within the next 12 months, if desired, at the ripe age of 34yrs young.

Congrats on your degree and success though. Wish you the best with your job.

What sign is it when a guy keeps overusing "beta" as an insult, as in they can't seem to think of anything else?

How many times was 1 or more still looking to the sidelines when the ball was being snapped?
Really don’t look like they are ready a lot

Clemson isn’t near as physical as Ga. if Clemson plays Ga, they better hope Lawrence has a career game and Fromm doesn’t.

You think Clem Isn’t as physical as UGA? Clem is not challenged in the ACC, they have 1-2 games each season where they are not motivated and play down to the opponent. Happens every year. Then watch them when they play a Bama, OK or OSU...they don’t take a back seat in physicality to anyone, ask Bama. UGA hasn’t yet risen yet to the level Clem is currently at, and if they played Clem would be favored.

Tonite didnt tell me hes the right guy. He has a ways to go to answer that question.

Tonite did tell me his team is still behind him and that's enough for me to ride along.

No reason to believe UT is going to fire him anytime soon. And even less that they can lure whatever it takes.

Totally screwed up end of the first half time mgt. Didn’t have a game plan for 2nd half. Forgot you can run the ball after the first period. But he’s the guy so learn to love it
I know, right? I mean we were just playing the THIRD ranked team in the COUNTRY. With arguably the most talented roster in the COUNTRY. Who haven’t allowed ONE SINGLE rushing TD all season. I mean it’s not like they had anything to do with shutting down our running game and letting the FRESHMAN QB in his FIRST start beat them. Or influencing anything else the team may have planned to do. If we had a real head coach/staff they would’ve beat UGA with this roster. Jesus what is this staff doing?

The level of STUPID around here has risen to near insufferable levels.

Agree. Looking toward the sidelines when the ball is snapped got us beat in the BYU game. You would think the could get that corrected.

I saw Improvement tonight, we just didn't have enough mules. Pruitt is going to build us a team. I like what I saw and the potential for down the road.
The jury is still out, I saw fight from the team which is improvement, but I felt there were some adjustments that should have been made to keep the team in it longer. Regardless it felt like the game was going to break against us tonight but you keep a team in a game long enough and they start to believe.

More than anything that is what this team needs, they need to manufacture a break somewhere to turn a game and flip the script. They are going to need this later in the year to pull out a win or two in conference, they need confidence.

Back to my original response though the jury on Pruitt is still out. We will know where we are with him in 2021, unfortunately I think the offense will struggle again next year.

UT has plenty of ballers. PERIOD!
Year two is critical in the rebuilding of a college football team. Great coaches see huge progress by end of year two. With the exception of Swinney (in the last 30 years) all great coaches turned the corner in year two. See Saban at LSU & BAMA, SOS at Duke and UF, Bob Stoops, Urban at BG, Utah, and UF, Richt at UGA, Pete Carroll at USC, Franklin at Vandy and Pedo State, Mullins at MSU & UF, Smart at UGA, Cristobal at Oregon, Stallings at BAMA.

CJP is NOT making the cut thus far.

I seem to recall people regularly talking about how much "fight" the team had under BJ. "We lost, but they fought until the end," we heard. And most of the time the team had to fight from a big deficit because of constantly being out of position, missing assignments, etc., i.e. not being well-coached.

I totally agree with this.....and my next comment has nothing to do with the end of the first half.

But Tennessee certainly quit on the run. Tennessee had a 3 to 1 pass to run ratio at the half......and one of their RB’s was over 6 yards per (at the time).....and all total they (RB’s) were over 4 yards per.

Not saying this would have made a difference in the game......cause it wouldn’t. But when you got a young QB making his first start.....you can help him out a lot by running some......I think it showed from most of the second quarter on.

Defense has regressed since last year, a lot. Offense is meh. We dont have the right coach.
We had some good talent on the D-line last year. Phillip, Tuttle, and Johnson were SOLID on the D-line. We've missed them tremendously this season and we've had nobody step their game up. All season we've been having to send extra guys to get any pressure at all and we've got burned so many times. TN is short a good D-line and a QB of being really competitive.

2021??? Ugh that makes me want to puke

Fact check: According to a stats website last year we allowed 63% completions for 222 yards a game vs 55% for 190 this year. I'm sure it does not include tonight's game but so far it shows improvement, not regression... Fromm and Tua, 2 future 1st rounders will skew the stats for a few games but I suspect some of the other games will balance their #'s

That defense is about as disorganized as we have seen since Sunseri was roaming the sidelines.

Wow great fan buddy, I'm so thankful most fans aren't like you. I will tell you not that it'll matter or that I'm bragging but I played at UT under coach Fulmer (I'll add) so I'm around more than the common fan so I've seen with my own eyes what's going on but you say I'm making excuses so you know more apparently

First, thanks for your time providing entertainment to we fans. Now my questions. Since you are around the teams, why was Jones able to have mostly winning seasons with that talent and what happened behind the scenes that caused the revolt? Will we have the same “young” issues next year on offense by losing the starting WRs, TE, and maybe starting a new QB? With the newer 25 limit on recruiting, won’t it be an almost impossible job to create a roster full of top talent when top talent will be turning over every 3 years, assuming Pruitt needs top talent to win. By the way, I am not high on CJP but have no opinion on whether to fire or keep. Just would like to win. Thanks for your informed answers.
