The people all around us last season are not renewing, and we would not have renewed had we not done it super early.
Sadly, this is the nature of the beast, when programs are perceived as bottoming out, support wanes. It is up to the AD and the head coach to rebuild that excitement. As far as NIL is concerned, people are not going to put out large sums of money for programs that are in crisis. It is up to the AD and head coach to change that viewpoint. We live in hope that CKC can create success with the new players she is recruiting.

Keep in mind, CKC has said several times in the past that she would love a team of mostly guards. I imagine this is better for the system she runs. Do I think we need a couple of bigs for key matchups in the SEC? YES! But, this is not the system where every ball needs to touch the paint.
It is better for this type of system, but at the same time, someone has to get a rebound from time to time.

I’m glad you are going. I know people don’t share my sentiment but I feel like if you are not there during the bad times then you don’t deserve the good times.

People will gladly buy those tickets and easily fill those seats. It’s always funny watching people think someone should care or will miss them when they stop supporting a team or attending games. Kind of like how all the players entered the portal and at that point folks around them and others were telling themselves nobody would want to come here and play in this system. Then next thing you know the roster is filling right back up.
See ya. These aren’t no bad times. This is a refreshing and exciting era of Lady Vols basketball.
We coming 🍊.

Concerning NIL, does all of the NIL funds come from boosters and business sponsors(cars, etc)? Does the player say what they want or does the coach offer and then counter offer?

I wonder how much big O’s NIL was going to be without the shoe deal?

Or what was her NIL deal at Boston College before we took her away from that commitment?

I’ve heard it directly from three LV boosters that they stopped their nil commitments. Coupled with the drop in season ticket renewals and I’d say that’s significant.

Y'know what... fair enough. But if Kim is able to put together a ragtag group of girls and makes the Sweet 16 this year, they better get over it instead of abandoning the program for good because they don't like the coach and AD.

And don't abandon the 2027 recruiting effort, we should hope to get some girls that can ball whether Kim is the coach for 27-28 or not.

Everytime you post/quote me it gets worse. I’m starting to think you are really taking this to the extreme in a sad way.
If you can’t see that Coach Caldwell is specifically signing all the players she wants that fit her system then just respectfully leave me out of your ridiculous dialogue. This woman has signed three 40% 3pt shooters in two weeks and an absolutely physical specimen athlete that is just 17yrs old and has played in the top European pro league in Great Britain. Zhen Craft who is an outstanding talent along with Gabby Minus.
Something is off with how you talk about basketball, you don’t need to involve me in it. Then talking about someone else not having a clue… straight looney tune.
You have no clue - lots of highly ranked players hit the portal - we just don't seem to be attractive to any of them.

I think CKC and company are doing the best they can with the players that are interested. Many don't seem to be interested.

Well, good luck to the broadcast team. I can't even begin to try and pronounce her name. Get the safe way to go is just to call her I. O.

Eye - rin [yep, not Eye - reen]

Oh - ba - wu - doe [if my ears are hearing it right]

Seems like many of the letters in her last name have become silent.

It's a bit tough, but just listen to her say her own name (end of the video) and anyone that wants to learn it can probably get it right.

After watching her play in the game that someone posted, at least we know she won't have a problem with the subbing. Her national team subbed out just like Caldwell does....😊

Let's go medium O!

Watched a little bit of vid. Agree that international players that have played in the national circuit usually come in with more poise, solid fundamentals vs traditional freshmen. Also, enjoyed several things from her interview. Seems development/growth focused, dedicated, and very clear about what to expect from the program - which is a plus. Thought her commitment to her physical training regiment and being optimally ready to compete was a positive. Athletic family pedigree. Will definitely give focus and effort. Watching her kind of reminds me of like a Jessica Timmons from Alabama.

I think we will likely do well with these types of players, i.e. solid, avg to mid-tier players with a "grind" mentality. Resilient kids who give consistent effort and don't give up. Even if they aren't flashy initially, hopefully as long as they hang in there, are good teammates to each other, and stick to the plan and give max effort, they will grow into a more effective unit down the stretch. Speaking of Alabama, I enjoyed watching them play and they are a good example of what I personally think the LVs could function like under KC, at least right now, if we go into the season with a collection of system-fit role type players. While Bama is dissimilar in style, the team was gritty and tough, stuck together, played within their system and was competitive til the end every game. This allowed them to often hang right in there with some of the big dawgs of the SEC.

To be fair, we had height last year & not many of them ever seemed interested in boxing out & getting a rebound soo maybe the shorter ones will be scrappy go getters.
Players like Galvan 5'6" or shorter beating Z & Barker to carom rebounds was a harbinger of a season of misfits. It matters how tall you are if the rebounds come right into your hands but if you don't box & have that want to mindset, you are going to be hustled. We had a lot of I don't give a crap play after December and a lot of young clueless play early season and a tough schedule for 8 newcomers & early ouster of Ruby and IMO it all beat them down and all the coaches could never push the right buttons to motivate a hapless bunch with a lot of give up in their DNA..
