We are really good

Coach Pruitt said on vol calls: "you know, I think we are really good. It sounds crazy but you see it." I don't think coach Pruitt makes up nonsense just to hear himself talk. I think if he says the team is really good then he truly believes they are really good. This is a man who has coached some really good teams and I'm certain he knows what a really good team looks like. I'll hang up and listen.

Definitely think we'll be better which is not saying a lot but I love what the freshmen class adds. There are still some question marks at some spots and some depth concerns "but" I think there are some areas of strength as well. We continue to make strides and dig from under the rubble that Cooter Jones left.

we are weak like a sack of balls. We have sucked for a decade and probably will for a several more. When the Vanderbilt coach is dancing like a clown on the field after the game,, that says it all. Aint nobody left in Knoxville that cares bout Neyland....ghost town

I suggest you take opportunity to crawl back under the rock from whence you came. This is a board for Vol fans, even negavols but has no space for such as this.

The o-line will be much improved this year, may even be the strength of the team.
That may well be the reason he made such a statement,"we're a good team." Think about it....you have 10-12 OLinemen that can play several positions. They are just young and they will miss a few assignments early in the season but as they gain experience they get better and better. What is key is rotating the players and keeping them fresh and do it in a way where there's not much of a drop-off in performance no matter who's playing. When these players do that on a consistent basis you win games by wearing your opponents down. Big 235-240 RB's just make it that much better and a lot of times fans think the RB just gets better toward the end of the game which isn't the case. a lot of times it's simply the other team is being out-physicaled. I believe that's the formula that Pruitt wants to utilize as HC and the same formula that Saban has taught Pruitt,Smart, Jimbo, and HC at Oregon currently, (can't think of his name at the moment). That's my opinion anyway. Another good thing about pounding the LOS is that it sets up play-action perfectly when safeties start cheating up.

Just being realistic, if you think 7-5 is our floor, I'd say that is a completely unwarranted assessment at this time. Imo, that's our glass ceiling. We shall see.

Need to beat Florida this season then go from there. So many questions with this team. What are we going to get out of the Dline, can Trey stay healthy, what will these freshman olinemen bring to the table, if JG gets a decent line what does he give us?
Personally i think we gotta get by BYU before we worry about Florida.

Skeered say skeered, oh wait you already said you’re AFRAID.

The BVS runs deeeeeep with this one.

Seriously, it’s ok to be positive.

I say 7-5 floor.

8-4 to 10-2 very possible.
There’s a difference in being “positive” and not being capable of thinking within the bounds of reality.

Here you go exaggerating bro! Stop that crap!!

No, last year's team was not Tennessee Historical standard. But they weren't "ONE OF THE VERY WORST IN THE COUNTRY"
Get out of your blasted Drama Queen mode!

We beat TWO top 25 teams. We weren't deep nor consistent. That's what we were. Okay!

Now since we've added VERY good talent along with some kids that already have experience. We've gotten noticeably bigger. Naturally stronger as well. Supposedly faster too.

I can't wait for this team to prove people like you wrong!!
Right! Go take a look at the recruiting forum. We're turning this ship around. I know, I know, we've heard this so many times before, but we are building strength and experience with our current roster. Unlike the Butch days, we are recruiting quality over quantity. We finally have elite proven coaches and recruiter of the year on our staff. We actually have an ad that bleeds orange. Future is bright.

I don't think he's been following the program. Just a drunk mouth-breather who should turn in his vol-card asap.

I don't expect Pruitt to say we are REALLY GOOD if he doesn't mean it. He sure didn't say we were really good last year. His assessment of the team last year was accurate. I don't believe we win the East this year but we sure won't be on the bottom.

Too many questions, too many freshmen, too many depth issues. But hey, I’m not with the team day in and day out so I don’t know.
I do know this!!! We’ll find out a little bit today!! Ladies and gentlemen it’s football time in Tennessee!!!

LOL. Blah blah blah. 6-6 is the ceiling im afraid.

Ceiling? I’m sorry you feel that way. It must be miserable. But don’t let it keep you from fully enjoying what is going to be a significant improvement in talent and production on both sides of the ball. We’re building a team the right way. We’ve upgraded players and coaches. This year will be different, mark it down. Buckle up!

I'll say this.
There is a considerable amount of talent on this time. And I think Pruitt more or less has found every player a home, positionally speaking.

Every level, offense and defense, we have playmakers. And DLine is the just by average the biggest we've ever had.

Simple offense. Screens. dump passes. Deep passes. Speed sweeps TE seem. Fade balls and counter runs. Depending on the QB, we're anywhere from a 7-5 to 11-1 team.

Bama still has Saban and Tua, so no beating them. Maybe 2nd go around?

Definitely stacked in talent—coming in one spot behind at #14 nationally in returning talent as far as recruiting rankings go. We are definitely stronger than we have been since the Fulmer era.

It will come down to mentality and physicality. Should be easier not to miss assignments. We better block like a dam and not flood gates this year if we are going to rely on simplicity!

I think Pruitt said last year there are just a couple of players on this team that we would have recruited. He is probably telling the truth but IMO he lost the upper class after that (ergo the 25+ blowouts) statement. If that was a true statement there are still (sans the Freshmen) just a few players he would recruit. I think he has grown as a HC and decided to go positive maybe the difference in being an assistant and HC. If we keep away from injures , players quitting and the O & D line & JG play up to their potential we could be a very good team but not much room for errors.
