Watch,, it!! Health, exercise etc.

Not sure if this is more of a reflection on me or him.

He received that watch on Monday and hasn't said a word besides " I got it."

If it had been the other way around I would have already started a thread here to ax him questions and discuss errthang about it.

One of us sucks, and I'm going with it's him!

I'm having a cup of coffee this morning. Probably too soon but through this thing I've gone through I decided artifical sweeteners might be an issue. I know that's a stretch but I've tried to consider everything.

I cut out anything that had artifical sweetener in it except the sugar free mocha syrup I used in my coffee. So I'm trying coffee black today and I'm only gonna have a cup and a half. Fingers crossed.

My dad had to give it up, in fact he had to give it and carbonated drinks up too. That's where I got the idea to try.

Got my MRI results yesterday. Some issues but nothing that indicates (screams) what's going on.

Dad has said all along it's a heredity thing but because mine is more extensive I haven't fully bought in. He told me to go see a chiropractor. Doc agreed. Gonna call this morning. Probably going to a masseuse as well.

Blah blah blah. I ain't no whippersnapper, I don't care what anybody says.

New watch arrives today. I didn't think about it until last night but it's supposed to be able to detect sleep apnea. I never considered that maybe being an issue. It's going to be interesting to see the info and how accurate it is, if at all.

"Once you turn on this feature in the Samsung Health Monitor app, the watch needs two nights of sleep data to track how many relative decreases in blood oxygen occur, then it analyzes this data for signs of moderate to severe obstructive sleep apnea"

Last night..my normal low is between 78-83. It's always been a concern but I've just accepted it. Never thought about sleep apnea.

Whoa, that’s a low average! This is mine:

Apparently I breathe ok, anyway. Nice to have something that works.

During the day I'm at 94-98 average, it's just at night that it gets that low.

It's been like that the 3 plus years I've worn a watch that records it. Last month wearing the Garmin and Samsung both at night they gave the same results. Within a number. So I'm comfortable with the accuracy.

Yeah, that sure sounds like you have some sort of apnea going on. Which would definitely explain poor sleep and maybe(?) the stress readings, although they’re derived from heart rate variation, I think.

It's gonna be interesting to see what the watch says.

I think the reason I'd never considered sleep apnea is because I misunderstood what it was. I feel stupid now because I should have researched this long ago.

One form of apnea can be easily reduced on your own: do you sleep on your back? If so, the tongue can relax and slide back, partially blocking your airway.

In this situation, one solution I’ve read is to (somehow) attach a tennis ball to the inside of a t-shirt, center back. If you then try to roll to your back while you’re asleep, it makes you continue to your side. (This was originally a snoring remedy by exasperated bed partners, but snoring is a symptom of apnea.)

Sleep apnea is a risk factor for other unpleasant things like stroke, so it might be worth checking out.

Welcome to the far side of 50!

Buyer’s remorse?
Wrong question. Since I've been in the trade in program for 4 years I'll never have buyers remorse.

I started to give an update for anyone interested last night, but didn't know how to in a few words, but I'll try.

So many "smart watch functions" I love about it.

I haven't had a chance to try out any activities to test the GPS and all the info from an activity.

I miss the info from Garmin. This has alot of the same but 1, I haven't had it long enough for it to learn my habits and 2, it's not as detailed as Garmin, and it's too soon to know if that's a good thing or bad thing.

For instance. Stress on garmin gave a sweet graph, times and a number. Samsung gives me a graph.

Several little things like that it's still too soon to know how I feel about it. The 955 took a week before it started being consistent with the sleep, body battery, traing readiness etc. So I have to be patient.

It's a sweet watch no doubt.

What I want is a Garmin 975 that's 49mm with 1.5 display. Has the ECG sensor, better maps and a flashlight like the epix pro 2.

Only reason I don't just buy an epix pro 2 now is I can decide if the 51mm is Too big. The 47mm has a smaller display than the 965 so that's a no go.

I've been to several places to see a 51mm and nobody had one. I can order one and send it back, but it's such a pain I'm afraid I'd go ahead and keep it, then talking about buyers remorse?!?!.

Yeah, with his watch if he understood it right now he'd see what it was telling him about his body right now. This Samsung really doesn't. Well, not as good.
