Von Pearson Update

Understandably so. It still wouldn't be right or fair to him though.

Couldn't agree more. Kid's name has been smeared and his life put on hold/off course for no particular reason for 4 months of this is all true. It sucks. I just know that if be ready to be done with it and move on with my life....while proclaiming my innocence to anyone and everyone who would listen.

Apologies to the UPDATE BULLIES but I have a hypothetical to ponder. What if this is a case of a drunken fueled misunderstanding or anything short of actual assault, that spiraled out of the accuser's control. This long gap between accusation and resolution is actually a negotiation between her counsel and authorities where she can bow out without facing charges herself? Handle it in just the right way and Pearson as well as UT are satisfied with the whole fubar just dying out. Couldn't rush this because every i needs to be dotted to satisfy the conspiracy junkies (aka Tennessean columnists) and errything got turnt 100 with the Title IX investigation...requiring further delicacy. In short, nothing happened...nobody goes to jail and everybody outside of Knoxville still uses it against the Vols. Big stretch? :dunno:

I'd hang that b**** out to dry. No free passes, no "deals".

Doubt he has the resources to do so legally. He's also gotta be careful how he deals with this going forward. He can hate the b**** quietly....can't act on it in any way whatsoever. Let it go and move on.

They are hesitant to prosecute false accusers because they don't want to deter true victims from coming forward. The system really should favor the victim. And in the case of a false accusation, the victim is the accused. He should get justice. And it shouldn't be on his dime.

Sorry if this Q has been posted in the past 140+ pages on this subject, but if/when Von is officially back on the team, does anyone know if he has been working out this summer on his own?

Should work that way, just doesn't.

True...or in lieu of forgiveness he wants this crap over? He could insist on going to court with this grievance...or get on with his life? :dunno:

I doubt he would take her to court for grievance. If I were him, I'd just move on and not press the matter. I know the saying might not be perfect in this situation but "don't try to fix what isn't broken"...which would be kinda an oxymoron because you could call her false accusations broken (if they are). Anyways, I doubt he wants to balance all of that during the season and post season training for the NFL. But if he wants to do it, good luck to him haha.

I served a couple of years at Denbigh high school in the 70's where Von went. It was a trash school then and I'm sure is a trash school now. I'm pretty sure that Von grew up as part of a trash society. I'm guessing that his upbringing didn't go far away once he arrived in Knoxville.
He was given an opportunity and blew it. So long.

So long? I don't think you're grasping the rumor just right.

I would do just the opposite with the Tennessean columnist.
After he announces (or maybe even a little before) that Von is reinstated, Butch should call her and tell her exactly how he handled this- tell it to her on background so she is not supposed to write those details - she will be both surprised and pleased that he did this.
Keep your friends close and enemies closer. Truer words.

The Tennessean is a complete and utter dumpster fire. They're like ambulance chasing attorneys, or gossip magazines. There is zero substance or moral reasoning behind their harassment of local universities. It's all to gain readers on their website. They can't survive on stories like community service and team bonding activities. Negative news generates more dollars for them. That's it.

Well since being an ignorant dumba$$ isn't actually a crime I guess you didn't serve a couple of years for that. You are certainly guilty of this however.

People like you are the reason kids from "trash schools" don't reach their maximum potential. Maybe if they actually had a person who cared with some character they would succeed.

So this is why people can't escape their horrible situation...
school is the way out but teachers don't give a s*** about the futures of these teenagers, and just give up.
