Von Pearson Update

I doubt the validity of this report. There is no way, in my opinion , that Von accepts a redshirt year. He is already 23 years old, since he graduated high school in 2010. Accepting a redshirt season would put him at 24 or 25 years of age before he gets to the NFL. I just do not see him being willing to wait that late in life to start a professional career.

Eh, I could see it go either way. He most likely won't be drafted if he skips this year and goes pro. He could always end up showing out and earning a good contract (and practice squad money isn't that bad either if you know how to handle your money).

If he redshirts and shows out in 2016, he has a chance to be a mid round pick and get guaranteed money. 24-25 is a little late to start an NFL career, but WR is a position guys can play into their 30s if they're savvy enough.

I think it will all boil down to how patient Von is to go pro and/or how much he wants to win big at UT. If North goes pro after this season and VP could come back for 2016, he'll have a chance to be the go to guy for what should be our best season in a long while.

I believe he came from juco with 2 years to play 2.

Talked to will west today at media days about the situation. He said coaches are of the belief that charges will be dropped, but the police and judiciaries in Knoxville are prepared to issue a warrant. He said it would shock him if he ends up playing. Tifwiw

Help me out here. What would give the coaches the belief charges would be dropped if they had knowledge that a warrant was on the verge of being issued!? That makes little sense.

I'm just passing on what I was told, whether it makes no sense or not. Rucker should be there today, I'll ask him about it as well

The media guys mostly have rumors like us, I'm just not going to pass anything else along, unless its positive or upbeat. I am noticing a distinct difference in the reception depending on if it's good or bad. I still remember the poor guy who told us he was going to be arrested. Lol

Same here. He had the inside and no one believed a word he said. Did he even keep posting after that?

I hate to say it, but I honestly don't remember his name. I took it as a rumor but was grateful in case it was true, that way I was prepared. Others absolutely tore him apart.

Well, he heard it from Will West....should make sense now when you consider the "source".

When he told the story of he and his drinking buddies coming up on the alleged victim and helping her find a police officer, NO ONE gave him heat. When he held out for five seconds on this board, THEN caved and gave up Pearson's name, it warmed up a lil bit. Some of us thought he should have waited for Pearson to be charged before letting that out...but that's an individual call. He wasn't a journalist or law enforcement personnel so...who were we to judge. When things started going down, and he shape shifted into some Nancy Grace/John Walsh unholy "insider" mutant, then he started getting the crap shoved back into him . He went from getting drunk with his buddies and helping a distraught woman, to drinking with her sorority sisters the very next day and intimately knowing the police decisions behind the scenes. He was understandably miffed when some posters called him out for dropping VP's name, but every post afterwards dripped with either trying to justify that decision or gaining some higher exalted status as a source of information. The drinking dude and his drunk buddies did a good thing. He got on a message board and told his story. If he had stopped there and was a big sports fan, he'd prolly still be on here. Unless he has a different name, he's not and we haven't lost anything.

I know nothing about the next day or any of that. Not sure what the point is? People on here never attack messengers? Cause that's far from accurate.

there were never any charges brought to begin with.

Yeah, that's fair. The point was, attacks only happen if it's bad news. Even tho the op states that he's just repeating.

I respect the principle Jones and UT are trying to live by but VP's case points to the problem with it. Unless there is something more than has been reported then there's no good reason to keep him off the team. Is it really that unheard of for a guy in college to get a little too much happy juice in him then do something stupid like that? A guy on "Baggage" last night put as one of his secrets that "when I get drunk, I show my junk".

Really stupid and immature thing to do... but worthy of being drug out like this? I really don't think so unless there's more to it.

I have to agree with you 1000 percent! This makes no sense. After this much time passing there can not be much to this or it surely would have surfaced by now.
