Von Pearson Update

The Jews were the punch line in 1930's Germany. Amazing what an extremely biased media can make people believe. You have bought a LIE that it is "many cases". No one has or can prove that... they just take anecdotes and generalize them. The same people who bristle at accurate statistical generalizations about ethnic and racial sub-groups in the US... have talked you into believing without proof that there is a "general" problem with the police.

To the extent that we do not get quality people to sign up to be police... much of it has to do with underpaying them... and crappy hours... and dealing with jerks and thugs... and then being condemned for every POTENTIAL mistake.

The Ferguson case is the perfect example. The officer pretty much did his job then responded to a threat to his life from Brown... but according to the propaganda machine... he shot an "innocent" kid for no reason.

LOL, you think they should get paid more? Look at the people that become cops...the 2 people I went to high school with that became cops were basic ass C students and losers with no friends, and they think being a cop will finally give them respect. Well, they're in for a rude awakening though when they realize it's 2015 and hardly anyone respects or trusts cops anymore...and less so every day when another cop goes full retard and kills another unarmed suspect.

People become cops because their life didn't go as planned and they couldn't get a real job, so they thought they'd finally be "cool" and respected, so they took a job that nearly anyone qualifies for. Not saying that all cops are losers with an iq under 60 and but far more than any other "profession".

I can tell you from experience that almost 100% of the last paragraph and the majority of this post is completely false. Probably would be a good time for you to shut the hell up and back out of this thread.

Sometimes it is better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and to remove all doubt. You said something stupid with the first post, and then you double downed on stupid with your second post.

So what, are you a vigilante? I take it you don't have insurance then. How do you take care of break ins and thefts with out a police report? Do you sit in the corner and cry? Do you put on your big boy pants and go out looking for trouble like they do in the movies? You are such a bad ass...why do you need cops for a wreck?

You seem like the type that runs from the police, but you don't even know why you are running.
Yup I sit in the corner and cry. That's it. We def need the police to fix our problems and take care of us when tshtf. You know, since we're incapable of taking care of our own problems without police intervention. Riiiiight...and yes I was claiming I was bad ass since I don't call the police to fix everything. And do you call your insurance company any time you take a loss? Actually don't answer that.

Edit: and I love how nobody acknowledges the police brutality and them overstepping their boundaries which happens every day in the US even when it's on the news every morning.

Depends on the amount of the loss. That is why I pay insurance every month....I mean that is the responsible thing to do. If you live in a bad part of town that has repeated break ins and thefts, a police report could assist in getting out of your lease. I mean you sound like you stay in your grandmothers basement.

Don't worry, I won't. I've dealt with multiple thefts and breakins without ever filing a police report. The only time I will ever be in need of of police is if I'm in a car wreck, and I don't think they have much choice but to respond regardless of my lack of respect for Leo's. And I clearly stated that not all coppers are low life's, and I def don't think the same of the military. Yes, a lot of people in the military are uptight tools, but they do defend our country and deserve every penny they make since they're actually doing something that makes a difference.

Also, I love how people want to attack me for belittling cops when I'm not in the minority when it comes to the police situation in this country. They're the punch line of our nation right now, and yall may not mind the fact that cops are blatantly committing hate crimes and getting away with it in many cases, but a good portion of the nation does.

You're turning yourself into a punch line, genius.

Do you have the slightest clue what life would be like without police? You're complaining about getting nothing from your taxes while driving on the interstate

Really? "Nobody" acknowledges that police step over the line? I'd say pretty much no one here said that.

I think there SHOULD be consequences when police actually abuse their power or carelessly make mistakes. But a lot of the hype recently is over-exaggerated and is MASSIVELY over-generalized.

About 1,200 people per year are shot and killed by police... counting both the justified and criminal shootings. Chicago alone had 389 murders last year... not counting justifiable shootings.

For people who are paid to go find bad guys and stop them from doing bad things... 1200 in a country of 350 million isn't a lot.

Whoa, Nelly! I'm gone a few hours, and someone throws 20 burning mattresses into the Von Pearson "Update" thread!

*goes to get some marshmallows, chocolate bars, and graham crackers*

Okay, well, I've seen a guy call cops "coppers" in this explosion of raw emotions, so that brings Cagney to mind. "You'll never catch me, copper, see? I tell ya, you'll never catch me, see?"

I see people railing against government institutions while using (probably) TVA or Corps of Engineers electricity, driving on public roads, and showing off the results of a public education. That's always awesome. I truly wish the world had an "anarchy corner" where we could put all the people who think they would prefer it. Would solve a lot of problems.

But carry on, carry on, I'm just gonna make some s'mores and watch.

Well said.
These men and women are given the daunting task of trying to deal with potentially violent criminals, putting their lives at risk, and are given a zero tolerance for mistakes while being asked to deal with them as nonviolently as possible. All the while, their decisions must be split second life or death while being held under the microscope with the utmost scrutiny.
I appreciate what they do and risk for us every day, I honestly believe there few negligently reckless officers, but these are the only ones who make headlines.
We need to lay off these people and give them the respect they deserve.
Sorry for the vent....that is all

I think I'll just quit looking at this thread for an actual update because I'm sure if something definite happens there will be 15 other threads that catch my attention

We should make a thread about complaining about this thread...would rival this thread's post count.

I think you certainly have valid concerns about police officers and the justice system, but your delivery, and more importantly, your over generalizations, are probably why people are arguing with you. Police brutality is a very real problem, but that doesn't mean all police officers are corrupt, stupid, and/or bullies. On the other hand, people that act like police officers are all heroes working an incredibly dangerous job for way too little money are going a little too far in the opposite direction, IMO. I say that because their jobs don't rank in the top ten most dangerous professions, they chose that job, and added power means added responsibility. Working a chosen profession that puts you in harms way at times doesn't justify shooting unarmed citizens in the back, beating them to death, or abuse of power in any form. There are evil people in every profession, but that doesn't mean that everyone in those professions are evil. It's justifiably infuriating to see anyone abuse power, but that doesn't make it right to disparage an entire group of working people, many of whom did get into the profession to actually make a positive difference in their communities.

No... I think he has a valid point. Let's get rid of the police and pray to God we don't die too fast. :scare:
