I'd almost rather take arrests than the accusations he said she said that drags on for months.
Keep in mind Nashville has a significant # of Vandy fans. The poor, deluded fools. Includes my sister and brother-in-law. I think the Tennessean spends at least part of its time pandering to them when talking sports.
I know this is just conjecture but what in the world would the Tennessean get for supporting a school with a notoriously horrible football program?
A notoriously horrible football program at a school with many wealthy alumni. Light bulb heating up...and flash! Yep, there it is. Follow the $$.
I don't like it...believe me, with a sister (and brother-in-law) who are 'dore fans, a brother who went to Vandy Law, and two daughters who are students there now, I live and walk in a world of black & gold horror. But I do understand the Tennessean's attraction to the $$, nonetheless.
p.s. The silver lining in that personal horror story is that my brother remains a solid and life-long Vols fan, regardless of where he got his law degree.![]()

Have we determined who it is exactly that's giving the indefinite suspensions to these accused players? Is it the school, The AD, Butch Jones?

I'm not sure the Tennessean cares so much about what wealthy alumni Vandy may have so much as they care about what they are: despite the name, it's Nashville's newspaper. And Vanderbilt is located in Nashville. They're the perceived "hometown favorite"...Obviously, the Tennessean, JCP, and DNJ all cover the Vols beat, as that's a topic of statewide and national interest to many...
The fact is that they're all "closet" UT Vol fans. Their inferiority complexes refuse to accept their "inner orange"
247 has a new update if anyone has access :whistling:
"We also have our weekly update on the perhaps-more-promising status of suspended Tennessee senior wide receiver Von Pearson and his situation. The Vols' second-leading receiver from last season seems to be doing everything he can do to get back in the program, but obviously his fate might not totally be up to him at this point. Things seem to be looking a little better for him these days, though, and we have more on that this week"
Theres been no big breakthrough in the past week regarding the status of suspended Vols senior wide receiver Von Pearson, who remains in limbo while awaiting results of a local police investigation into an alleged rape that occurred off campus this offseason.
Pearson still hasnt been charged in the matter, and theres growing optimism within the program that he wont be charged, but obviously local police will have the final say in that matter.
As weve reported on multiple occasions, Pearson took care of his business academically this spring and would have enrolled in classes this summer if not for the investigation. And we continue to hear that Pearson the Vols second-leading receiver in 2014 despite playing most of the season with a high ankle sprain will be reinstated if he isnt charged in the matter.
Von is working out with the team, has his academics in order and should be fine. You're not going to see anyone with 247 say that until its official but I wouldn't worry about Von.
So, if he's "suspended", but is working out with the team, and participating in team activities, what exactly does being "suspended" entail?
It's another non update. Ugh.
The "update" called the situation an alleged rape-is that true? I thought the accusation was that Von "only" exposed himself to a girl (I definitely remember people comparing it to streaking). Is there now more to the accusations than was originally the case?
Also, why not take summer classes? He's obviously around campus, and seems like it would be a great time for him to take a few and lessen the pressure of the fall semester. Does the suspension affect the terms of his scholarship so that classes might not have been covered?
