Did I miss something? When was he charged? The last I heard he was being investigated by KPD for a crime.
It is what it is. A nonexistent award for the most arrests in a year. Fulmer had quite a problem with felony arrests in his heyday. Although the joking about it came the next year when Florida surpassed the UT arrests, it was a popular phrase and Fulmer had to own it.
You cannot change the urban dictionary once a word has been established.
104.5 the zone in Nashville. Hubbs is on every Wednesday at 8am. Said he was hearing there wasn't sufficient evidence to charge Von, that he was in good academic standing, just waiting for the "investigation" to wrap up.
Just because the police may not charge him and he remains in good academic standing doesn't mean that Von Pearson's totally out of the woods. Those facts would not stop the accuser (/potential victim) for asking for an internal university investigation subject to a lesser "preponderance of the evidence" standard of liability, or perhaps filing a civil lawsuit against Pearson (like the one filed against Jameis Winston), which would also be subject to a "preponderance of the evidence" standard. The evidence may not indicate Pearson's guilty "beyond a reasonable doubt" for criminal purposes, but it may satisfy the lesser "preponderance" standard for civil or disciplinary purposes.
As Florida State did with Winston, Butch Jones could reinstate Pearson to the football team and continue playing him during an ongoing university investigation or private lawsuit. Such a move, however, would go against his policy to date of indefinitely suspending football players until all investigations and disciplinary proceedings are concluded, and could subject him and the school to some embarrassing media attention, especially given the situation with Williams and Johnson and criticism of UT's handling of sexual assault claims:
UT's handling of sexual assault report devastates woman
UT athletics accused of influencing student discipline
Just relaying what Brent Hubbs said. I think we've pretty much exhausted all the scenarios in this thread regarding this "case"....if Hubbs had mentioned any of what you posted, I would mentioned it as well. However, all he said was what I pretty much listed. Guess we're all ultimately just waiting around to see how it all works out. And just to be clear, I put more stock in what Hubbs says than any hit piece from "Pravda on the River", ie, The Tennessean.

What actions do people expect UT to take? When its one persons word against anothers and there is no proof a crime was committed, how can you dismiss a student who is presumed innocent from school?
UTAD is already taking a harsher stance than many universitiesor companies, for that matterwith immediate and indefinite suspension the minute a player becomes involved in a legal investigation. Thats both responsive and punitive. What more canor shouldUT do when a player has been accused without evidence and has not been arrested or charged with a crime?

Unfortunately, there are cases all over the country where universities are taking action against students without the same level of proof afforded the "accused" in the American judicial system. Google it - some of what you read will blow your mind. There was a UT-Chattanooga wrestler recently booted from there due to some type of sexual "incident" which the local police investigated and determined there was not sufficient evidence to take it in front of a judge. Hard to believe, but it happened there.
Yes, it's definitely an issue. Students can be dismissed for all sorts of violations. "Violating team rules" or "violating university policy" have become the loopholes du jour. But UT has acted swiftly, decisively and aggressively, IMO. The Tennesseean is insinuating that UT has been lax in responding and lenient with athletes and I find that untrue.

That's only because it is. I think most people who don't have their head up their rectum understand what The Tennesseean is and what they are there to do.
It has always struck me as odd that most other college towns have a media that supports their local school and tries to help promote it, but in knoxville the local media are always looking to make UT look as bad as possible at every turn. I just don't get it. I know the tennesseean isn't necessarily local, but you get my point.
