Von Pearson Update

The University has chosen to error on the side of caution, and with the federal Department of Education investigation it is probably a wise decision until the DA decides to charge him or not.

I can't believe in the society in which we leave that VP won't sue the SHI* out of UT if he isn't ever charged and not allowed to return to school. I see frivilous lawsuits filed all the time over MUCH less than this....and many are actually won. I assume he has a feeling this will go his way and that's why he ISN'T discussing a suit. This is beyond absurd at this point. The feds may have put some fear into UT with Title IX talk, but I promise you a multi million dollar suit filed by a student who has been wrongfully accused isn't going to help our recruiting or the image at UT in general. IF, and I say IF, he isn't going to be charged, they need to do the right thing and screw the PC police. I am typically very patient on these issues but like I said, this has gotten absurd. And I can't believe Butch isn't pissed as well behind closed doors. He knows recruits are watching.......nobody wants to go play where you can be wrongfully accused and get suspended with no evidence or proof.

UT has more information about the accusation than Vol Nation members have. I see no reason to harass Carilli. Butch doesn't really seem to be putting up much of a fight to push to wrap up the VP matter.

That you know of.....none of us knows what kind of conversations are going on behind closed doors.

Butch isn't putting up much of a public battle. I'm sure that he's working to resolve it behind closed doors. Heck, it's even possible that Butch went to this guy and asked him to reverse the decision so that it wasn't up to the coaches to decide if the suspension should be lifted.

Carilli is just probably being safe. He has former UT ties, I wouldn't start some James Franklin conspiracy lol. Butch should just grow a set and keep him on the field. What would Jimbo do...

He shouldn't. He should be focused on winning football games.

It's part of the job of being the head ball coach. He'd also like to not do some of the pressers, but that's part of the responsibility of being the HC. Position coaches don't deal with off the field and administrative matters as much as the HC.

The most important part of coaching is winning football games.... period. Sure, Pearson would help in the matter, and I'm sure Jones is doing what he can in those regards, but it's out of his hands at the moment. Time to focus on the beginning of the season and winning football games.

He focuses on things other than Xs and Os as well. He's well paid... he multi-tasks.

So I can call my senator and representative to encourage them to vote one way or the other and make my feelings known, but we aren't supposed to contact some PC political liberal on the UT staff regarding what is quite possibly an incredibly unfair situation?

This is a message board, you have a problem with my post don't read em. I am excited about the season, and I don't need any situation made simpler for me. The length of this investigation seems to be moving at a turtle pace, I'm just voicing my thoughts. If it bothers you just ignore my post. I haven't been following it everyday and haven't posted about it until the last couple of days. If he is guilty they should be able to charge by now, this has taken way too long. Most cases don't take this long to charge or not charge. Just sayin. GBO!!!

Calm down Francis. I don't have any problems with what you have said. All I am saying is we don't know anything beyond Von's suspension. So assume he won't come back until we hear differently. That's all.

It is high time that the citizens of Tennessee hold the people whose salarys our paid by our tax dollars accountable.

Flatiron, In America we have this thing called the 1st amendment. We are also are innocent until proven guilty according to our founding documents. Since Von has not even been charged then he is innocent until proven guilty and this liberal academic professor and "state employee" owes everyone answers because, if nothing else, we pay his salary.

So in response to your post I say ask any question you like because he is a public employee and you have every right.:hi:

VP may not want the national attention that could come about after some nimrods start threatening Carilli. VP's attorney will raise hell if necessary. The truth is probably somewhere between VP being a rapist and someone leading Bible study at a party full of heathens. IMO, VP did do something stupid that caused all the ruckus... not necessarily criminal.

I'll have you know that leading Bible study among heathens (as opposed to non-believers in the Abrahamic religions) would probably elicit raucous laughter.

Or, alternately, tar-and-feathering.
