Vols Schedule Will Change Starting in 2020

That's not exactly true. The complaint wasn't that they faced both opponents in a three week span, it was that they played them both either at home or on the road each year, meaning that in the odd years, they play zero SEC home games the last month of the season. It's a great advantage in the even years, but a huge negative in the odd years. So the request was more about moving the schedule to avoid the frontload/backload of SEC home games depending on the year.
That’s the fault of the SEC and AU agreed to it. AU played UGA at home in back to back years in 2012/2013 to make the schedule work bringing in Missouri and A&M. Easy solution to AU’s problem is to play at UGA for consecutive years and their problem is solved. Do you think they have offered to do that?

As many here have said, there's some benefit for us, I'm ok with that.

But as king suggested, I was under the impression that AU had the opportunity at the start to voice objections and other solutions for the issue.
If you feel differently, I'll let you defer to the OP instead. Probably would have been the better route anyway.

I was just questioning whether the SEC would have been willing to move anything around had it been UT with a complaint. My gut says no, you disagree?

I like it. Athens in November is a heck of a lot better than late September/early October.
Athens sucks year round! You're probably talking about the weather though 😆

AU has been crying for the last two years for the SEC to change their schedule and not have to play both Georgia and Alabama in November claiming it wasn’t fair. Well, they got their wish, starting in 2020, AU will replace Tennessee on on Georgia’s schedule and Tennessee will now play Georgia in November instead of September/October.

From where are you seeing / hearing this part of the story (that the Tennessee game is the one which will be moved)? The two main articles on the matter (SaturdayDownSouth and the original article from 247Sports where the story was broken) mention that the UGA/Auburn game would be moved to either September or October, but nothing further.

Is it an assumption being made, at this point?

Don't know where king gets his info but he's a visiting rival that frequently brings information from all around the SEC.
He seems to be correct way more often than not, fwiw.

So who does UGA switch with on our schedule?

If it’s true that the TN game would be the game shifted, one would guess Missouri...which on a side note, would also solve a broadcasting issue the CBS and the SEC had been having at the same time (CBS has been stuck with a somewhat recurring November weekend that would only feature the UT-Missouri, Arkansas-Mississippi State, and Vanderbilt-Ole Miss matchups as its selection options...though this happened in 2016, 2018, and a variation in 2014 where Mississippi State and Ole Miss were flipped).

Yeah but according to the UGA fans I work with Auburn asked for that also and only recently started playing BAMA and UGA in the same year. The UGA fans have been bitter about that because it required them to play at Auburn two years in a row to make it happen and the second one was that hail Mary deflected pass in Gus's first year. Personally, whatever gets my co-workers in a tizzy is hilarious to me, but it does make you wonder what Auburn has on the league office to pull all this off. You know they'd have told us to suck it up and play our schedule.

Isn't UT scheduled to play Arkansas in 2020? UT just played Auburn so they wouldn't be on the schedule until 2025 or so...in Neyland under the current format.

What does that have to do with anything? What am I missing? (Not being a smartass)

It’s not about Auburn for us. We’re playing UGA later in the season so they can play them earlier.

Yes they did. But the ripple effect requires more than just those two teams to adjust their home/road rotation. It's far easier for the the league to change times of year than it is to flip home/road for 4+ teams to accommodate one request.

I would’ve preferred to move Florida to the back end of the schedule but this works too. I think it will help even out our schedule.
Back end of our schedule is currently beating the hell out of us too. Not sure how moving Florida helps even anything out. No, until this team gets much better and competitive in the SEC, the schedule and wanting to switch games around doesn’t mean anything.
