Vols release depth chart ahead of Tennessee Tech game

That's the point, Josh was just as in-accurate and he is a starting QB in the NFL. Do you think Milton isn't capable of similar stats if he can get a full (healthy) season under his belt? The comparison was also stature and intangibles. I would guess Milton runs a 4.7 and can throw just as far/hard.

Allen threw TDs, and moved the offense, in spite of missing a lot of passes.

That's not what Milton did at Michigan, and it's not what he's doing here.

The same nonsense that was spouted when any criticism was leveled at a coach before it was apparent that they were getting fired.

Just admit that you don't believe fans should discuss a coach's decisions and performance on a message board, and you believe that the only purpose Volnation should serve is to provide an outlet for abject coach worship.

See how that works Fade?

Hmmm, wanting to give a coach more than 8 quarters into his coaching tenure to figure out his QB situation is coach worship?

How many quarters before we can discuss his decisions and performance in the games that have already been played? 12? 16? More?

You're going to need to provide guidance if you are going to anoint yourself the forum gatekeeper.

Wholly unsurprising. Heupel is going to try to use this game to "coach Milton up", and then toss him out on the field against Florida, and let him dig a hole we can't get out of before putting an under-prepared Hooker into the game after Milton goes out with a supposed injury.
I never believed JMIII was injured in the first place, he'd just realized what the fans were witnessing but GBO with whom ever!

Milton's lackluster performance vs BG and ineffective performance against Pitt vs Hooker's serviceable performance against Pitt says otherwise.

Ok. Like I said, 1 1/2 games! I too thought Hooker played much better than Milton last week and I won't be surprised a bit if he starts this week. That depth chart likely doesn't mean squat. Heupel even said in his press conference he wouldn't know how Milton was healthwise til mid week. I just know that my knowledge of the game and of everything that is going on behind the scenes is not comparable to that of a college football that is involved in every aspect.

Does anybody remember the wild stallion from Wyoming, Josh Allen? You know the starting QB for the Buffalo Bills. He was much like Milton, 6'5 with a cannon of an arm but a low completion percentage throughout his college career. Milton still has too much upside to not start him against Tenn Tech. I don't know if he's fixable within 1 season, but let's give it a little more time.

The problem is he hasn't been fixable in going on 4 seasons now.

Otherwise he is still starting for Michigan.

Personnel question. Any chance of seeing Baron at SDE and Young at WDE on passing downs? I think The two on the field at the same time could create an interesting much needed pass rush dynamic.

Not to contribute to the derailing of a thread about depth chart by contributing to the QB discussion that's hijacked the thread, but....

Wasn't it said multiple times during camp that Hooker was the clear vocal leader of the QBs? Compare that with Milton's demeanor on the sidelines... 🤔

Yeah....but ....Milton looks like a Greek God in pads and can throw the ball 70 yards in the air.

Just admit you hated the JH hire and want this thing to blow up so you can pi$$ and moan about it for eternity.

Here’s an idea - let Heupel do whatever the F he wants at QB for more than 8 quarters without hyperventilating about it.

Ding..Ding...Ding... We have a winner!

Here we go again, the coach is always right, even when he's wrong, and any criticism is "hate".

Feels like Dooley/Butch/Pruitt era all over again; I do so love nostalgia.

No, don't believe he said that at all. Said give it a little time. I say at least wait to see if Milton even actually starts saturday!

This is not a new chart. Notice all the injured guys still in the number number one slot and that Hooker is number 3 when he was obviously number 2 last week. Let’s not freak out yet

Has anyone seen Milton and Guranatano actually in a game at the same time? (Not very likely given the time zone gap). But I have a theory. Maybe JG is somehow possessing Milton during the game. The ultimate revenge, he continues to destroy us only now from thousands of miles away.

Why do I need to watch this week's game, or any future games for that matter, to evaluate Heupel's decisions and coaching performances in the previous two games?

Again, this same nonsense is trotted out with each new coach, that they are somehow immune from discussion and criticism in the present, until some arbitrary time in the future, which gets punted further with each new season.

Heupel's going to be here for years to come, and contrary to popular sentiment, he's not going make all the right choices based on his status as the HC alone.

If you can't handle the discussion of his performance as it occurs, then Volnation is probably not the place for you.

oooh, demonstrably. Please, show what information you have that is more than the information Heupel has regarding which QB should run Heupels own offense 🤣🤣🤣
and feel free to list your own qualifying credentials, playing experience, NFL or ncaa experience, courses etc
He does this every post he makes. 😂

I’m more interested in seeing if we can cut down on the mistakes - especially the penalties on both sides of the ball. We should be able to carve up TT and hopefully all three QBs get to lead scoring drives. While we should be able to just pound the rock we definitely need to throw downfield since that’s currently an area where we suck. I hope Joe can hit those wide open receivers this week during the first 20 minutes but if he doesn’t then let Hooker take over for 20 minutes and then let Bailey throw for 20 minutes.

We start SEC the following week with a weak OL that isn’t gonna open holes for the running game and a defensive that can’t put pressure on the QB…if we can’t throw the ball we are gonna get blown out in 5 or 6 games. This is the last scrimmage to get the passing game working.

It's wholly based on his authority, your entire argument is predicated on "Josh Heupel is a football coach, therefore Josh Huepel is therefore correct"; textbook example of the fallacy really.
Not really. The argument is you are a nobody and your opinion is guesswork mixed with past negativity. And doesn’t even matter

I've already made it, several times. There's nothing about Milton's performance at Michigan, that set him above Hooker with his performance at VT, or Bailey's performance at UT.

This has been reaffirmed by his play in both games this season.

Josh Heupel being a Heisman candidate, and the head coach, is not a refutation of the argument. Him being both of those things, does not change the fact that Milton, was the worse choice to start on Saturday, as was demonstrated by Hooker's ability to more effectively move the offense after Milton left the game.
Josh Heupel has access to the statistics you are referring to. He also has access to additional more relevant and more exhaustive information than you provided. Nothing in your analysis, from your small sample size of evaluation this year to your comparison last year when both qbs were in different systems, give a justifiable argument why Heupel should start Hooker over Milton in the system that Josh Heupel himself is installing and running at Tennessee. Do you have any criticism of the system he is running?
