Vols and Jancek part ways! (official)

Did UT Treat Jancek Unfairly?

Well, we need to raise assistants salaries if that's an issue. It's ridiculous the amount of money this program takes in, especially when successful, and they want to go bargain basement on coaching salaries.

Jones was the 23rd highest paid coach in the country for 2015 and just got a nice 500 K bump.

I wouldn't consider that bargain basement.

His assistants are a different story and I don't think that will change.

The onfield failures have been documented. But, this may have as much to do with recruiting, that we can't see as clearly.

I guess we just lost a walk-on QB too.

When there was all these new hires, there was speculation that Jancek might be considered to some teams.

I'm wondering if Jancek was indeed being contacted and Butch didn't like it.

I read that salary was a concern for some assistants as well.

Maybe Butch promised Jancek that he would "do everything possible" to get Jancek and assistants a raise. So then Jancek agreed and not to talk to other schools about leaving for more money.

Then Butch gets a raise and extension... looking good, right?

Now it's time for the assistants to get pay raise, but Butch says "I can't".

So Jancek and Butch have a huge long conversation about it and Jancek basically said "screw you, I can't take these lies..."

Thoughts?

Any former Michigan coordinators out there? Maybe we can have both Brady and Woodsen on board the Vol Express.

People are saying they were impressed with Jancek towards the end of the season, but look at the teams we played.

Kentucky was the best offense of our final 6 games at 97th in the nation. North Texas, Mizzou, and Vandy were in the bottom 8. Of our first 6 fbs games, all but 2 teams had more total yards against us than they averaged for the whole year.

That being said, only 4 teams scored more points than their average. (UF, UGA, USC jr, and Candy)

UF beat us on a 4th down play and USCjr would have beat us if the guy hadn't dropped that pass at the end.

do I have that right?

With the program heading in the direction it is going, we could be in for a surprise. I'm trusting Butch with this one. Defense will be loaded next year, and we are no longer looking to be average. I don't see why a good coach wouldn't want to jump on board.

This has nothing to do with recruiting, it has everything to do with beating Alabama in the SEC championship game. I believe Butch has the players and thinks he needs someone that can not only play with but beat top ten teams.

Bud Foster?

Bo Pelini?

Bo would be so awesome.

Speaking strictly of assistants at this time, although I would compare what coaches are making compared to SEC coaches not the country as a whole, because that's where our competition is at.

Or Jones realized there were better options out there
