I am a frank and honest person and I question validity of your argument and example because it is very unlikely that currently anyone would be 50-50 between UT and Bama. As of right now we are not even on the same tier or level when it comes to competition, money, or recruiting. If we were at a point where we could truly be 50-50 with Bama then most likely the negative posts would stop.

Bottom line is I am a fan and alumni that contributes and will share my opinion openly. I do not like Derek Dooley. I didnt before he came here and even less so now, but he is our coach until at least after the 2013 season barring losing 7-8 games next season and I will support him on the field. I will also question him, Hart, or anyone else if I think I need to.

Message boards are about opinions, not facts. It wouldnt be too hard to overcome any objection a recruit has over a message board post but the reality is most posts are a regurgitation of something reported in the media. If Dooley lost a recruit because of a post on VN then I blame Dooley for being a weak ass as opposed to blaming VN.

AD staffers monitor web sites for info to be placed into recruiting packets as part of the negative recruiting process. Threads like "how many wins" and "will DD be let go mid season" you can bet your ass are front and center of that process. I am done arguing about this but you people that act like you aren't being used against the program you are supposed to support aren't seeing the facts!

If other coaches need more ammunition against a program that just went 1-7 in the SEC, 5-7 on the year, lost to a UK team without a QB, and missed the bowls, so be it.

Dooley has yet to demonstrate that he deserves to be a coach at this level; if my saying that drives recruits away, well adios. I wish them luck and many wins at whichever program they choose because odds are they are not going to win very much at UT under Dooley.

I am not a nega-vol and support Dooley.... I will be doing so as long as he remains our coach. I do NOT have any control over if/when he is replaced, that is in someone else's hand, so I will simply support him as I have all those who came before him in my time.

I do not like, and most of the time will not read negative posts on this or other forums...

Having said that: I do not support censorship in any form

What VN needs in addition to the thumbs up indicator to agree with a poster VN needs a thumbs down for disagreement. when the trolls come on hear along with haters and spew their junk there is always a few posters to who will take time to type their disapproval. A thumbs down just takes a click and you can easily see the true feelings of the majority. A person comes on here and says DD is not a good coach with 2 thumbs up compared with 3000 thumbs down will give everyone a better feel for the fan base. Love never fails. Pass the word.

Wow - my thread has turned into communists vs free speech. At least the communists are outing themselves.

Oh, and just for context, the wisconsin situation was a B-ball recruit with academic issues and the fanbase ripped him for it on their board. #1 - nobody cares about wisconsin basketball, and #2 - the crticism on VN is aimed at Dools and the program in general...which are totally fair game

Not opposed to this but is is all opinions after all. The biggest problem I see on this board is those that refuse to live in reality and have unrealistic expectations then go ballistic when their unrealistic expectations do not come to fruition. Like I said there are a lot of things to be said about our program and recent seasons that are just plain stating facts, but those that live in a world with orange colored glasses that think we will beat top 10 teams with bottom 10 talent and coaching are as big of a problem as those that are truly negative.

Exactly they ripped HIM PERSONALLY. Not the coach or the program, they went off on him for not being able to pass Algebra 1 or whatever lol.

I think we also need stingent policing to make sure that only one user id is allowed per ip address. Very often I notice that a host of posters who all joined within a couple of months of one another and who have similar post counts and points of view on a topic will all pile into a thread at once creating a sort of echo chamber and I cannot help but wondering if it's really just a couple of folks posting under multiple user ids.

It also brings a hint of questioning how many of the posters on Volnation are using more than one User names. I've seen it done on other forums where if people make comments that someone doesn't agree with, they get slammed by multiple posters. Come to find out it was mostly the same person.
