That's good. Despite all the poor decisions and lapses in judgment, he still has a shot to get paid for playing football. Would love to see him on their roster in September.

Return man maybe?

Return man maybe?

I'm a Raider fan. The only hope Pig has to make the team is to beat out McCaffrey and Andre Debose.

The Raiders will keep 5 WR's. Debose was drafted by them late last year, but he is a terrible WR (he played for UF). However, he is a top notch returner (why they drafted him), but he is injury prone.

With returns being less important more and more, Pig has a real chance. I think it will be between him and McCaffrey to make the 5th spot.

The first 4 spots are secured. Granted, this is for the active roster. Stands a very good chance at the practice squad if he has been training and working hard.

I say McCaffery wins out & Pig will end up possibly on the practice squad.

There also seems to be a trend, if all things are equal, to keep the cheap guy. That's how Darr got the punting job in Miami

I'm glad Pig was able to sort this out. I know what he can do, if he's in shape I think he'll survive camp and land on the practice squad.

Yeah, I know it's waaaay too early, but, it's the offseason...

2017 NFL Mock Draft - WalterFootball.com

11. San Diego Chargers: Derek Barnett, DE, Tennessee
14. New York Giants: Jalen Reeves-Maybin, LB, Tennessee

No shot JRM goes in the first round. Love the kid but he doesn't have the size teams look for to go that high. He would need to run a 4.47 like Darron Lee of Ohio State to even get a look in the first. And I don't think he's that caliber of athlete.

For context, at this time last year walterfootball.com had Cam Sutton and Marquez North projected as first rounders. Now Cam didn't come out but North did. And he went undrafted.

So I wouldn't take this mock draft as gospel.

I would probably have to add Cam Sutton somewhere in the 1st round to that. Not before Barnett or JRM but sometime afterwards. Probably a late 1st round pick somewhere between #20-#32.

Could go even a little higher depending on his 2016 season but I still think he's most definitely a 1st rounder. I know he doesn't make it past the 2nd round for sure.

Cam will go way ahead of JRM and most likely ahead of Barnett as well. If he can revert back to his sophomore form and we have the type of season most expect, I could see him being the first CB taken in the 2017 draft. And that typically means top 10 pick.

Jalen Hurd will also be a first rounder. He's too good not to.

In total I expect 3 guys to go in the first (Cam Sutton, Derek Barnett, and Jalen Hurd).

Dobbs and Justin Martin with standout seasons could work their way up into the first round as well. They have the natural TALENT.

Nobody picked up Von?

That should tell you all you need to know about our pass game last year. Our leading receiver can't even get invited to a camp to try out.

With all the injuries, dismissal, and reliance in freshmen WRs one of which never played the position before, we shoudn't be surprised by the lack of production.

Josh Dobbs was not the problem. The wide receivers simply weren't good enough.

Ehh, no one is taking a mock draft as "gospel," especially not yours. You had Kelvin Taylor going before Derrick Henry, and North going no later than the 4th round. How'd that end up working out?

And no, it's not because the GMs are stupid. You were dead wrong. We've all been there. Accept it.

Actually that's not true. I said Taylor would end up being the better player. I never said he would go higher in the draft. NFL teams are usually stupid that way.

I stand corrected (I admitted I was wrong. That was really hard). I just remember the thread title mostly, which you have to admit is misleading, causing me to misremeber you as saying that Taylor would be the higher draft pick.

5 first rounders? This is like if Mad Magazine was doing a spoof of Sports Illustrated.

You might need to read again. I only said 3 sure fire first rounders.

The other 2 were largely projections based on potential. Tons of guys who nobody has going in the first round to start the year always shoot up the draft boards. Two sleepers from our team that could be one those guys is Justin Martin and Josh Dobbs.

Martin has all the talent in the world it's just about putting it on film for him. If he starts all year next season and plays as well as he did last year I could see him fly up the boards. He'll also test out really well at the combine (4.3 speed likely)

Dobbs is based on my belief that he's as talented as Deshaun Watson (who many have going #1 overall) just hasn't put it all together just yet. If this team has the year many expect (SEC championship/playoffs), it will be because Dobbs has improved as a passer. If he does that and we win the national title, he'll rocket up the draft boards.

Aren't you done making predictions for a while?

The other context is that 4 months ago you had North definitely a 4th round pick, and he went undrafted. Hope youll understand why I don't take your opinion that JRM won't go in the first round as gospel.

No, it's only part of the story. The other part, a very big part, was Dobbs' accuracy issues. Everybody sees it, everybody knows it. Dobbs wasn't THE problem, but he was a part of it.

I thought someone would take a shot at a height-weight-speed athlete like North even with a shoddy injury history and no production for 1.5 years. That didn't turn out to be the case.

JRM is more simple. He lacks the physical attributes to be a first rounder. To go in the first you not only need great production but you also need great physical attributes to get you in the room.

I HOPE I'm wrong. I want JRM to go in the first. But he just might be too small and not athletic enough to make the first round cut.

I didn't think Dobbs accuracy was any worse than most QBs I watched last year. I didn't see him missing wide open receivers down the field consistently.

I think folks took the few times he threw balls into the dirt on receiver screens or slightly behind RBs on the RB screen as evidence of bad down field accuracy.

He actually threw the ball really well from 10-20 yards. As the 3rd down passing stats show. What he struggled with were the short bubble or screen passes. I think most get hung up on those throws cause they're theoretically easier to throw. And some project that if Josh is struggling with those short passes then he can't throw deep.

That couldn't be further from the truth. The reason we barely threw the ball deep was because our wide receivers couldn't separate. We now know that our leading WR runs a 4.8 and could not get a tryout with an NFL team. That should be clear evidence that the lack of down field passing was more a WR problem than QB problem.

A lot of us thought someone would take a shot at drafting North.....but absolutely no one, no fan, no "draft expert", no NFL analyst thought someone would take him in the 4th, or possibly the 3rd round like you did. Evidently, 99.999% of people thought he was a 6th or 7th round or undrafted FA guy. So now, after that 3-4 month argument where you were so insistent that you were right and all us idiots and fools were wrong, it's kinda hard for us to have any belief in your very self-assured projections going forward. Make sense?
