Venson Sneed, 6'-5"/253lb. SDE Commits

Wow we beat out powerhouses Kentucky, Indiana and USF to get this guy meanwhile Georgia has the number 1 ranked recruiting class so far for 2022.

That's a great welcome message to send to what sounds to be an amazing kid who by the way just committed to wear the Orange and White in Neyland Stadium.

Show some respect Asshat

Maybe so but I feel like we should never, ever be compared to those programs in anything football related. Guess I need to get with the times...ugh!
There's nothing much that can be immediately be done to change the current state of affairs.
except:

1) Learn the new offense and defense in and out during the off-season.
2) Perform on the field with the talent available.
Season doesnt start until September 2021. Its April 2021

WHY go months and months complaining about the current state of affairs when literally nothing can change until games are won??

Think about this. We could have the top 25 kids (all 5 stars) overall committed to us right now. Could any of them help us win in 2021???????

No.

We all know recruiting is important, but let’s give JH the benefit of the doubt here. Unknown punishments are probably killing us, we also have sucked bad for the past decade. If the play on the field improves, recruits will come.

Right?

It's not that difficult to understand. Well for most at least.

IMHO, the biggest factor is the extended dead period combined with the timing and circumstances of his hire. Recruiting requires relationships and you just can't do that with Zoom. It would have been bad enough without the extended dead period but that's been a killer.

I hear ya brother. My attitude sucks but I'm hopeful. I'm exponentially more hopeful than I was with that bloody moron Beldar at the helm. I'm really hoping for the best but have a hard time getting too excited. After being punched in the gut over and over I think it's understandable. GBO!

All I see is huge arms swinging around wild and crazy everywhere going right after the ball. Hopefully he can play at this level and be coached up. If he can, great, and we need a lot more just like him. Seems like all we've had for the longest time is guys playing patty cakes.

You are right. Development is nice and all but you cant win the Kentucky Derby with a mule. I hope we miracle ourselves above expectations but i think expecting recruiting to be on par with the Dooley yesrs is what we have coming for a while. Right nownit isnt Heup's fault. We just have to slightly exceed expectstions every year and creep back up. Sad reality is we are irrelevant to most of the big name kids these days. Our best hope for the next 5 years is thst Heup can coach out of his mind. Thats how we get back to top 5 classes.

WELCOME young man to Tennessee Vol Nation!!!

We're happy that you chose to work hard and play for us!

We look forward to watching you work, learn and grow into a NFL prospect during your years on the Tennessee hill.

Please help our coaches recruit some more good footVol players to join you in your recruiting class.

VFL....GBO!!!

This and also.. Give the kid a chance also.. All the negatively comes based on looking at a subjective ranking. Does anyone know if he camped, or has he been evaluated lately related to covid? Hell did he play a full season last year? If CRG likes the kid I'm good with it. If I magically bumped that ranking up just a tad.. All of a sudden he is ready for the NFL combine to some that never even watched the kid play a snap.. That is what gets old around here.

Realizing that UT needs the help... I still hope they do what Chavis did so effectively at UT. Take an athletic guy his size and grow them into a dominant DT.
That's a strong possibility, but if he could play Edge at a fast 270, that wouldn't be bad! Maybe channel Reggie or Jevon Kearse!

Winning begins as a state of mind. Willingness to accept a 30% failure rate does not lead to achieving a less than 10% failure rate.

That's all BS. Most coaches come in and teach the no failure gimmick. There is such a thing as a rebuild. All teams do it. Fans don't understand it but coaches and owners do. Some teams suck at it and some have bad luck. We apparently are both.

Exactly. If they like him, we fans have no right to complain. But if 3 years from now the play hasn’t improved and we’re still recruiting the same, then I can understand it.

True in the larger sense but there's also the concept of a "J" curve for improvement. Most improvement starts by tearing up what is there... which actually causes you to lose some ground to start. Unfortunately at a high level program you have to get through that dip pretty quick if you want to survive.

I like this kid and do not see why he isn't rated higher. I have more doubts about the LB commit.

Who here said thst Barnett would set the UT record for sacks before he ever played a down? Raise your hand please.

That's what I thought. None of you know how a player will perform, good or bad. He may turn out great, especially with the high level D line coaching he will get from Garner.

Kid has great size. I’m as nega as several others on here but the fact of the matter is in our current situation it’s going to be hard to lure the highly rated kids. Imagine all the negative recruiting being used on us right now with the sanctions

This is my biggest concern about Heupel and his coaching staff. They're still recruiting the same players they were recruiting to come to UCF. That's not going to play out well.
