Guy who runs Basketball Time mag posted a coaching search update this morning. Reading between the lines, it looks like one of Mack/White/Tyndall to me. Link
Anything above $2M would put them in the top 20 highest paid coaches in the nation. Stallings is 20th @ $1.9M and has been at Vandy 14 years. Then again Anderson is at $$2.2M and has been @ Arkansas 3 years. It's hard to tell what Tennessee will do but I expect them to be in the $1.3M-$1.7M range as a starting salary. I don't think that's cheap and should get us a decent coach.
But then, what do I know. I just a fan that bleeds Orange.

They go on to say that Tennessee would have to exceed $2m for Boyle and they've been told by multiple sources Hart will not exceed $2m. I think you can likely cross Pitino off as well, he would want close to $2m, add in his buyout and you're talking a lot of money for a guy who's done nothing except have the right father.
That leaves White, Miles, Miller, Mack and Tyndall. From reading multiple national analysts I would be shocked if Miles ditches Nebraska, he loves it there and has it much better than most would think.
I would say top 4 are White, Tyndall, Mack and Miller with miller being the least likely.
JMO
To me if youre gonna pay 2 for any of these, offer marshal 2.7 or so just to see.
If they aren't gonna go after a Marshall or Howland, they may as well go with White or someone similar. I would much rather pay White 1.3m than to pay Boyle 2m and I wouldn't come close to paying Pitino 2m.
If you can't get a TOP guy, no reason to overpay for a mid-level guy that isn't any better than someone almost a million dollars cheaper, IMO.

IMO if Hart pays anyone 2.5-3, it will be Marshall or Smart. If he drops down to the next group, I think he goes all the way down to 1-1.1 and hires White. No reason to offer a coach 1.6-1.8 mil just because Zo was set to get that and to hold your spot in coaching pay ranks. Mack would be the only guy IMO who would warrant 1.3-1.5 in that group.
I don't think Marshal deserves 2.5-3. JMO. The conference he plays in is weak and other than last years run, tourney results don't warrant it. 2.5-3 would put him in the top 10 range in the nation. Just don't see it. And I don't see Smart as a fit for UT. I believe we will go low D1 to Mid-major @ 1.3-1.7.

Why do you think Miller is unlikely?
If Mack is actually a realistic candidate, go get him. I'm still perplexed why Howland isn't being discussed if 2/3 candidates are "up-and-comers"
