If you right wingers don't like" left wing" policies then fore go Social Security and Medicare, the repubs fought tooth and nail to stop their passage.

How about I don't need them because I worked my butt off so I don't have to depend on anyone. People should really try self sufficiency, you know that thing dems are trying to squash.

Maybe if people had to push themselves we all could be better off. But hey, free loading and being a complete loser are totally cool as long as they feel good about themselves.

I'm 36 years old. I have been paying into soc sec and medicare for 21 years now and I am certain I will never draw a dime because libtards like you support policies that actually give away the portion of my payceck that is "jacked" from me faster than I can replace it.
I support a family of 4 with no help of any kind frm any govt agency...and don't intend to take a handout from anyone as long as I'm able to do for me and mine. I watch as every possible abomination to good sense and morals bcomes not only legal but common practice in a country which has turned its back on God and is in the fastlane to Hell in every measurable sense.
I wait in line at the grocery store behind people who will blow 200 dollars at the drop of a hat on the things I have to tell my kids "no" about because I must balance a budget...Hot Pockets..designer icecream..microwave french fries..etc. etc..they can drop 200 bucks on nothing but junk because THEY ARE SPENDING MY PAYCHECK and not their own...see they don't work. Aren't going to work...many don't even speak english...but they can sell a little dope and between that and their fre medical care..subsidized housing...baby mama checks...hell disability...they get along just fine. While we struggle andlive check to check because we actually do work

I would love for some liberal pantywaist like you to stand in front of me right about the time I check out at the grocery store behind one of these leeches...and start preaching about what I am and am not entitled to. You can bet your ass you would only do it once..

I'll knock your delusional ass out sucker !

Well, it sounds good in TV clips.

That it does. But when dealing with an old school foe, you have to have an old school diplomat. And some of the words those old school diplomats used in private sessions probably couldn't be used on network TV lol

Can we get over this reductive liberals are "this" and conservatives are "that" nonsense? The terms "liberal" and "conservative" include quite divergent ideologies even among themselves.

Well, darnnit'! Let's reopen a base on the Canadian or Mexican bordesr. Or even make a military base somewhere near the Bering Strait. Then let some of our F-16s, F-18s, and strategic bombers buzz some Greenland airspace. By god!

You do realize we have about a dozen bases within spitting distance of the Canadian and Mexican borders? And some contingency bases near the Bering Strait?

And we still have a base in Greenland? Which is owned by Denmark and is an ally of ours?

Proud classical liberal here. :hi:

We've turned the page on the Cold War.

We may have but I'm not sure he has and pretending he has or that he should see things the way we do doesn't do any good in dealing with the situation.

News flash - not everyone shares the same world view or same motivations. Expecting your opponents to think just like you is a good way to be surprised by your opponent.

Well, we need another one then. I'd imagine Russia has plenty near Finland as well. Didn't stop them.

Takes a different breed of warrior to fight in the snow and mountains.

Say what you want about a Russian soldier. But those tough bastards went through the winters during WWII without a whole lot of creature comforts and still kicked out a more advanced army then they had at the time.

Can't remember the book I read, but it was something about how God must love Russians because he always gives them the weather they need to win. Winter has destroyed more than a few armies that invaded Russia over time.

Finns, Swedes and Norwegians as well.

And I'm some sort of bizarre liberal concoction that I'm pretty sure doesn't even have a name. And I hope it never does. It will mean that my ideas have somehow become entrenched. Nothing wrong with that, but just not my style

and those ideologies have changed over time.

I remember when "liberals" were anti-government.

I also remember when it was considered patriotic to complain about taxes.

Now it seems many self-identified liberals are all for concentrated power in the government to control all manners of US life and label people who complain about taxes as being unpatriotic.

Labels are meaningless - positions are everything

Yeah, but we like you. You actually provide thoughtful responses to things instead of puking up the party line. :)

Thanks :)

Just a fancy way of saying libertarian. I sometimes use that terminology to see what people say :loco:

I'm a liberal and often despise the government, although I'm also not a laissez faire kind of guy either.

Anyhow, I digress.

My intent is to point out the difference in ideology of the two parties. The idea that one party is giving the store away is a false and ridiculous wedge issue.

Just how would one opt out? The biggest farce is the automatic payroll deduction. If you had to actually write a check to cover your Social Security and Medicare contributions you would flip out.

True, there is no difference in ideology. There may be different words on the party platforms but the ideology is the same. That ideology is to stay in power. Nothing else matters to either party.

Both parties are crap. The majority of people in D.C. are crap.

What happened to a greater and larger cause that meant the dissolution of personal or self serving urges, wants, and desires?

There is a real problem and it starts with anyone who is a politician in title. Especially life long politicians and those that become wealthy for being one. There is something so very wrong with this picture, yet, it continues because we allow it.

Thanks :)

A hippy that hasn't washed in four months that has Ron Paul stickers plastered all over his VW van and a peace symbol on the front?

Yes, there's the distinction. Soundbites intended for public consumption versus the actual dialog that goes on behind the scenes.
