Ukraine Protests

Not good...

One of the nationalist groups that were part of the demonstrations against former president Viktor Yanukovych has called on its members to mobilise and arm themselves.

According to Ukrainian Pravda, Sector Right called on all its units to mobilise.

This is their statement:

“Being aware of all the dangers that are looming over the Ukrainian state, the headquarters of the Right Sector orderall its units to mobilise and arm, and depending on the specific situation to coordinate with the armed forces.
We remind all citizens of Ukraine regardless of nationality (including Russians ) that our struggle is anti-imperial , not Russophobe . Russian empire will be destroyed. Urge Resistance Movement Caucasus and all liberation movements in Russia to step up their activities.”

If Russian troops are killed or taken prisoner, all bets are off.

Honestly, it's really amazing how you guys hate Russia.

Putin's Russia is a faux conservative wet dream.

It's no wonder some of you liked that meme previously posted, whether or not it's actually legit.

But, to be sure, yes, Russia has a flat tax, hates gays, and discourages dissent (to say the least) against the establishment.

Honestly, you all might prefer Russia. I know that seemed odd during the Cold War, but it's apparently your destination now. And Vlad is your guy.

Damn commie socialists fascists bastards!

Liberal America is our one hope! I mean our FFs were liberals, so why not liberals carry the badge today?

Russia operates a gnat hair away from being Communist..which is not a conservatives dream..that's a lefty thing.

Looks like Putin wants to be the next big thing. Those are some aggressive movements by the Russian Gov.

If our own President is a measuring stick in regards to "the next big thing" then Putin has zero problems filling that role.

It is now, but they have had a few moments of inspiration. The Mi-24 for example was ahead of anything we were fielding at the time and really only suffered from the lack of sophisticated anti-tank armament. And they were years ahead of us in IFV design and production when you consider the BMP series had been in service for 15 years before the Bradley came on the scene.

Sometimes the Russians got it right, but tended to focus on quantity over quality instead of incremental upgrades to the systems they had.

Thanks for bringing the intel. Interesting stuff.

Obama hasn't invaded another country. I'm thinking more along the lines of the next great dictator.

Liberals in 1776 and the 1800's do not equal liberals of today. I would say they are very much polar opposites.

You may be right. Although determining this is taking eighteenth century liberalism and placing it in the context of today's world. Who knows how this would work.

I think another interesting question would how does eighteenth century conservatism relate to today's conservatism.

I think the autocratic czarist model might work better to describe contemporary Russia.

But we digress.

Depends on your definition of "invaded."

Problem with this whole situation? This is a win/win situation for Putin. If we do little more than give out words in speeches and call for UN action, we will be perceived as weak and will give the Russians carte blanche to expand their influence over the Ukraine. If we follow up words with any kind of action, Putin will be seen as countering US aggression in what is traditionally a Russian sphere of influence and it consolidates his power base in his own country. No matter what, he has us backed into a corner and anything we do, including nothing, is going to go wrong for us.

There are very few, if any, options available that allow us to get through this without egg on our face in some form or fashion. Our own foreign policy failures over the past five years are an indication that we will not get through this without some form of gain for Putin in the long run. He has us right where he wants us and started the stare down contest because he knows (perhaps thinks) we will blink first.

France stalls Obama’s capitulation to Iran | Power Line

Obama's Blundering Lets Putin Humiliate America, In Word And In Deed - Investors.com

When are the ardent supporters of Obama going to wake up and realize Obama is nothing more than Putin's jail house girlfriend when it comes to foreign policy? This "President" is as weak and spineless as they come.

Red line in the sand on Syria? Yeah, right. Then Obama says "I didn't draw a line in the sand, the international community did". What a load of crap. May not matter anyway b/c it would probably become an Al Qaeda state.

Missile defense: Obama has repeatedly backed down on missile defense systems in Europe and capitulates to Russia while Putin does what he pleases.

Iran Nuclear program: This agreement is worthless at +!+s on a bull...only delays their nuclear weapons program for partial sanction relief. With Russia gaining the upper hand in this region, sanctions will be largely abated and Iran will continue on.

This President continues to pi$$ off our allies and send in the clowns posing as Sec.s of State of whom almost nobody in the international community has any respect for after their repeated capitulations, surrenders and bluster that has amounted to nothing other than constant egg on our face. We've got big problems when effing France has more of a backbone than the illustrious leadership of the U.S.

But yes, let's blindly support stupidity and a guy that was so ill-equipped for this job it's not even funny.

It'll be a nice change of pace from those who "immigrate" here from south of the border.

I am not saying McCain would be a worse president than Obama, but I will say regardless of who is sitting in the White House, it could most definitely be worse.

Hopefully we will never know...because this is about as bad as it gets.

I supported strikes on Assads air force and missile forces. I knew the "do nothing" approach would come back to bite us in our azz.

It could always be worse. Obama could start a war that kills an estimated 100,000-500,000 people somewhere. But as long as they're not Americans, who cares I suppose.

Vitali Klitschko (I believe) wants to mobilize the Ukrainian military. That said, I don't see the military engaging the Russians unless they move further into the country.

I hope you're not a Vol professor teaching young minds. If so, they and you wasted an inordinate amount of money on education. Your summation is so far detached from the critical thought process and not even close to accurate is your attempt to connect the dots of conservatives to Putin/Russia and the "liberals" of yesterday compared to the socialist leaning, massive govt. loving liberals of today - not even close.

It's not about starting a war. It's about letting there be no doubt that you will finish it. That's where Bush lost me.
