Now that you mention it, I have been thinking about getting the band back together too. Turn Canada blue, and we're good to go, bro.

i have always thought it would be interesting if we had kept all the land we had conquered. Mexico, Canada (or chunks of it) france, italy, parts of Germany, Belgium, then you have all the little islands in the pacific, south korea (sort of) parts of China, India, Afghanistan and a good large chunk of the ME, as well as the African Mediterranean coast and several islands there. and what was the African country we made so that we could send the slaves back?

Would be like the British Empire. Untenable because of the sheer costs of a sea-based empire. Land-based empires are hard enough; sea-based are even more difficult.

we still operate our navy globally. sure wish we got direct benefits from it.

Classics professor and war historian Victor Davis Hanson dismisses the notion of an American empire altogether, mockingly comparing it to other empires: "We do not send out proconsuls to reside over client states, which in turn impose taxes on coerced subjects to pay for the legions. Instead, American bases are predicated on contractual obligations — costly to us and profitable to their hosts. We do not see any profits in Korea, but instead accept the risk of losing almost 40,000 of our youth to ensure that Kias can flood our shores and that shaggy students can protest outside our embassy in Seoul."

.

What was conquered in Canada? Most forays northward ended in fail.

we went up there and defeated armies, never really took any cities though proving your point. still MURIKA! still can you trust the canucks? with them just hanging out up there, doing who knows what?

shaggy students? koreans can grow very little facial hair. i think it would really shock the majority of our population how much we support other nations and stability in general.

and as far as Korea goes, I don't think anyone would really complain if we were to invade the North. just let China know whats going down and drop tons of food in the countryside to appease the locals.

What gives you the impression that "shaggyness" is determined by facial hair?

You ever seen a college student who wasn't dressed like a hobo, or either with some political t-shirt, protest something?

kiffin.

and that is general attire for college students now a days. of course if you ask about the t-shirt that won't be able to tell you anything.

Speaking of which, can anyone ID this guy?

Most students at UT dress either like they're about to go to a formal social or about to go jogging.

Only a few fall somewhere in between - your hobo and political t-shirt variety (aka, your shaggy college student).

Means they look like college students who actually care about politics.

Who actually care about politics?

Korean disdain for the presence of American troops is about the dumbest angle anyone can take in protesting the American hegemony.

I'm almost at the point of having the US pull out and letting Korea go back to the wolves. Like that dumbass Psy guy. Yeah, let him go back there and sing this:

Kill those ****ing Yankees who have been torturing Iraqi captives
Kill those ****ing Yankees who ordered them to torture
Kill their daughters, mothers, daughters-in-law, and fathers
Kill them all slowly and painfully

You want North Korea in your backyard? You want to be owned by China? Be careful about biting the hand that feeds you, SK. You're benefiting from this partnership far far more than you're suffering.
